Stockings
I remember writing a few days ago that I was feeling super organised for Christmas. All of a sudden I feel anything but!
We have 3 children aged 10, 7 and 20 months. The two eldest have asked for fairly high-priced items as their main presents so I’m now worrying that they won’t have enough other bits to open on Christmas morning.
My main problem at the moment is stocking fillers, particularly for my eldest. I’ve just been searching for stocking fillers and found some pretty cool bits on Amazon, including fart whistles and balloon helicopters!
I’ve just ordered a fair bit and feel a little less worried about the main presents now, I don’t want to go over the top but I want to make sure they’ve all got things they’ll enjoy opening and enjoy playing with for a while after that one day.
I know everyone has a different way of “doing” Christmas. For us, the children all have a stocking which is hung on their bedroom door on Christmas Eve. The stockings are filled with small gifts, chocolates, socks, pencils and little bits. The children are allowed to open these as soon as they wake up. The idea is that if they wake up at 4am (which is the norm in this house on Christmas morning) and can’t get back to sleep, at least they’ve got a few bits to do in bed whilst Mum and Dad drag themselves out of bed. We don’t like to be up before 6am, even on Christmas Day! Then, downstairs all together to see what else Santa has left. This will be the bigger presents left in the living room, usually in front of the fireplace.
I have stumbled across a couple of bits I’m quite pleased with. I’ve bagged a Pokemon Encyclopedia, I’m pretty pleased with this and think my eldest will really like it. I also ordered a remote controlled Thomas the Tank. I’d seen this elsewhere and wanted to get one for the little man, but it was overpriced. This is reduced at the minute so it feels like I’ve got a bargain and I know he will love it. Anything Thomas related is a huge winner at the moment! Finally, the one I think will be a real winner with my daughter, Disney Descendants Mal’s Spell Book. She adores Descendants and has the DVD on every night to fall asleep to. She will love this!
I’m still in need of stocking fillers and I’ve wandered the shops aimlessly a few times over the last few weeks and returned home with nothing! So, Friday is the day we’ve decided, we WILL get the stocking fillers sorted. Can’t leave it much longer! Any ideas most gratefully received!
