About

I started writing the blog hoping to share the huge variety of ways I’ve found to make extra money (primarily online) from home.

As a Mum of three children, there is always something somebody needs. Quite often it’s an unexpected expense. It might be that one of the children suddenly develops a hole in their shoe, or a school trip rears it’s head, or the family car needs fixing. There’s always something! Over the last few years, I’ve worked hard to boost our family income and make savings in order to stretch the pennies that little bit further.

A Bit More About Me

Our finances first took a hit when both myself and my husband were made redundant within a month of each other whilst I was pregnant with our daughter. We already had our eldest son who was 2 at the time and the usual mortgage and bills to pay. We went from two full-time incomes to nothing very suddenly. It was just before Christmas and we had to make huge changes to our lifestyle and how we treated the little money we did have. Being pregnant meant I’d struggle to get another job so I spent that time working on things online in order to bring in extra cash.

Since then, things have improved massively, yet I’m always aware of how quickly life can throw a spanner in the works. I don’t like to have all our eggs in one basket.

I’ve worked from home since 2009 both as a self-employed childminder and now I’m employed and work online from home. I do lots of other things online to keep our income up and try to keep us in a stable position!

At My Money Cottage, you will find lots of useful information on how to boost your income, how to stash away extra cash and how to make the pennies go further. I also like to share things we’ve enjoyed doing as a family too.
