5 things for students to do over the Easter break

Ready for the Easter break? Who isn’t?

Over the past 12 months, students have had to quickly adapt to virtual learning – either at home with the distraction of the family or at their student digs.

If you’re staying with McComb Students, this shouldn’t have been too much of an issue as they provide some of the best student accommodation Ormskirk has to offer. Each of their rooms comes with luxuries, such as a large ¾ or double bed, a desk, a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and super-fast Wi-Fi and broadband. On top of all this, you have access to a shared kitchen and communal areas with Sky TV – perfect for taking a break from your studies.

We’ll bet you can’t wait for long lie-ins, home-cooked grub and no all-nighters finishing coursework. But regardless of whether you’ll be spending the Easter holidays at home with your loved ones or stopping at your student accommodation, it’s worth using the time productively.

And here we offer a few ideas for how to make the most of the Easter break:

1. Volunteer – isn’t it time that you gave something back to the community? Easter is the perfect time to seek volunteering opportunities and to explore your interests. For example, if you enjoy marketing or IT, you might be able to volunteer at a local firm and develop your skills. Or maybe you could help out at a charitable organisation?

2. Explore – you might not be able to jet off somewhere hot just yet, and the government are advising us all to stay local (as opposed to ‘stay home’), but that’s not to say you can’t get out and explore! And even if you’re staying at your student accommodation, Ormskirk is surrounded by natural beauty, reserves and wildlife, so there’s plenty to see and do.

3. Spring clean – admittedly, it’s not the most exhilarating thing to do over the Easter holidays, but having a good clear out at your student accommodation, or back at home, can benefit you in more than one way. For starters, it’s the perfect opportunity to find items that you thought you’d lost – saving you the expense of buying replacements – but it also allows you to remove clutter and free up valuable storage space. You could even use websites like eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Depop to sell your old things and make a bit of money.

4. Revise – with four weeks off, you’ll have plenty of time to catch up on your beauty sleep and to have ‘lazy days’. But the chances are you will have exams after the Easter break so it’s a good idea to do some revision (and we don’t mean leaving it to the last few days!). It should also give you the chance to get ahead of any work or to read some books to broaden your knowledge.

5. Exercise – let’s face it, we’re all bound to overindulge in chocolate this Easter. But as the temperatures begin to rise and the days get longer, now is the perfect time to do some exercise. Even if it’s just a walk around the local park with your mates at a social distance or a bike ride with someone from your household. It’s good for your health and can also help to clear your mind.

There are, of course, many other things you could do during the Easter break – like finding new healthy recipes to practice at home or joining a sports team. Or if you’re yet to secure luxury student accommodation in Ormskirk for 2021/22, perhaps you could get in touch with McComb Students? Their friendly team is always on hand to help and would love to hear from you. Just give them a call on 01695 422 122.
