How to earn repeat business as a real estate agent

As a real estate agent, it’s a great feeling when you finally close the deal on a house sale. But it’s an even greater feeling when that client returns to you further down the line when they’re looking to move house again. But with so much competition, how can you earn repeat business? There are actually a few really simple things you can do to encourage your clients to come back to you again and again.

Let your clients know you appreciate their business

One of the simplest ways to show clients how valuable they are to you is to tell them.

When a client sells their house through you, it’s a business transaction for you, but it’s a whole lot more for them. Selling a house is stressful and clients can often feel very emotional about the whole process. Be the agent that gets this and treat your clients accordingly.

A personalised thank you note is a great way to show your clients that you appreciate them. If you’re not sure how to word it, you can find realtor thank you notes online that you can then adapt to suit your own circumstances. A personalised thank you note will show you care about your clients and make it more likely that you’ll stick in their minds when they need a realtor in the future.

Follow through with your promises

When you’re trying to get new business, it’s tempting to make lots of promises about pretty much anything in order to get the clients to use you over the competition. But make sure you follow through on any promises you make otherwise your clients will very quickly decide to head elsewhere. Whether this is a promise to contact them at a certain time, or a promise to have their house listed online quickly, if you don’t follow through, you’re going to lose their trust very rapidly.

There is often a lot of money at stake when it comes to real estate transactions, so you want to be as honest and reliable as possible so that your clients can relax and let you get on with your job. Don’t promise things that you know you won’t be able to achieve as there is very little chance you’ll get repeat business.

Update your social media

Social media is vital for modern businesses. Many potential clients will search local social media groups for recommendations when they’re looking for anything from tradespeople to real estate agents. When you take on new clients, encourage them to follow you on your social media accounts. Make sure you post regularly and share your success stories on there. This will keep you fresh in your clients’ minds and make them more likely to remember you when they next need to find a realtor.

Get into the habit of doing these simple things and you’ll find that your customers keep coming back to you again and again which is exactly what any business would hope for. As a real estate agent, you need to be professional, reliable and approachable so that your clients know their money is safe in your hands.
