The Ultimate Classic BLT Sandwich: Crispy, Juicy, and Ready in 10 Minutes

Some days, I just want something simple, fast, and totally satisfying – and that’s exactly where this Classic BLT Sandwich comes in. There’s just something about crispy bacon, juicy tomatoes, and crunchy lettuce all tucked between slices of toasted bread that hits the spot every time. It’s the kind of sandwich that feels like a treat, even though it’s super easy to throw together.

I’ve been making BLTs like this for years – honestly, it’s one of those staples I never really get tired of. Everyone in my family loves it, and I usually have the ingredients on hand, which makes it a total lifesaver on busy afternoons. Whether you’re serving it up for lunch, dinner, or even a weekend picnic, it always brings that fresh, savory goodness we all crave.

Now, I know everyone has their own little twist on the BLT, but this version is the one I keep coming back too. It’s no-fuss, no-frills, and packed with flavor. Plus, it comes together in just 10 minutes, which is pretty perfect in my book.

Ingredients

  • 8–12 slices of cooked bacon – Because let’s be honest, the bacon’s the star – crispy, savory, and totally irresistible.
  • 4 slices (toasted if you prefer) of your favorite bread (white, whole wheat, sourdough, etc.) – Choose whatever bread you love most – just make sure it’s sturdy enough to hold all the good stuff.
  • 4 leaves of lettuce (romaine, iceberg, or your choice) – I like a good crunch, so I usually go with romaine, but any fresh lettuce will do the trick.
  • 4 slices of ripe tomato – Juicy, ripe tomatoes really bring that fresh flavor – don’t skip them!
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise – Creamy mayo adds just the right richness to pull everything together.
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste – A little seasoning goes a long way – especially on those tomatoes!

Recipe Instructions

You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

1. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves, then slice the tomatoes into thick slices.

2. Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on one side of each bread slice.

3. On two slices of the bread, layer the lettuce leaves.

4. Add the tomato slices on top of the lettuce on one slice of bread and season with a little salt and pepper.

5. Place 4–6 slices of cooked bacon on top of the tomatoes, depending on your preference.

6. Top each sandwich with the remaining slices of bread, mayonnaise side down.

7. Press gently to hold everything together.

8. Slice each sandwich in half, if desired, and serve immediately.

Top Tips

1. Toast your bread just right.
Lightly toasted bread gives the sandwich that perfect crunch without scratching the roof of your mouth. Golden brown is the sweet spot!

2. Use thick-cut bacon for extra crunch.
Thicker slices stay crispy longer and add more texture – and flavor – to each bite.

3. Season your tomatoes.
A little sprinkle of salt and pepper on the tomatoes brings out their juiciness and adds so much flavor.

4. Layer smart.
Lettuce goes under the tomato to help keep the bread from getting soggy. Nobody likes a soggy BLT.

5. Don’t skip the mayo.
It’s the glue that holds it all together and adds a creamy richness that balances the saltiness of the bacon.

6. Customize it!
Add avocado, a fried egg, or even a slice of cheese if you’re feeling fancy – make it your own!
