Halloween Purple Monster Strawberries (Quick No-Bake Recipe)

Every year when Halloween rolls around, I love making fun little treats that are just as cute as they are tasty. These Purple Monster Strawberries are one of my favorite no-bake recipes because they look so festive without requiring much effort at all. The candy eyes give them a playful monster vibe, and the purple chocolate coating makes them pop on any Halloween dessert table. They’re the kind of treat that makes both kids and adults smile the second they see them.

What I really love about this recipe is how quick and easy it is. You only need a handful of ingredients, and since there’s no baking involved, the whole process is done in under 30 minutes. I just dip the strawberries in that pretty purple chocolate, pop on a sprinkle eye, and let them set. It’s such a simple project, but the results are seriously impressive. Plus, it’s a great one to make with kids, they’ll have so much fun giving each strawberry its own little personality.

These monster strawberries are perfect for Halloween parties, school events, or even just a cozy movie night at home. I like to line them up on a platter so it looks like a crowd of little monsters staring back at you. They’re sweet, a little spooky, and so much fun to snack on. Trust me, once you make them, they’ll become a Halloween tradition in your kitchen too!

Ingredients

  • 1 package PME Cake Sweet Street Pretty Eyes Sprinkles – these candy eyes bring the strawberries to life with their fun monster look.

  • 5 oz Ghirardelli’s white chocolate wafers – smooth, rich chocolate that melts beautifully for dipping.

  • 6 drops purple gel food coloring – just the right amount to get that bold, spooky purple color.

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil – helps thin the chocolate for the perfect glossy coating.

  • 6 strawberries – fresh, juicy berries that make the sweetest monster base.

Recipe Instructions

You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

1. Place white chocolate wafers in a bowl and microwave on defrost for 2 minutes, then stir. Continue heating in 1-minute intervals on defrost, stirring between each, until melted. Stir in food gel and coconut oil until the mixture turns purple.

2. Dip strawberries into the purple chocolate, letting excess drip off, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Before the coating sets, press one candy eye onto each strawberry.

3. Allow to dry completely, then remove from the parchment and store in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Serving & Storing

  • I love serving these Purple Monster Strawberries on a Halloween platter alongside other spooky treats, they look so fun all lined up together.

  • These are best eaten the day they’re made, but they’ll keep nicely in the fridge for up to 2 days.

  • Be sure to store them in a single layer on parchment paper so they don’t stick together.

  • If you’re making them ahead for a party, just pop them in an airtight container in the refrigerator until it’s time to serve.

  • I like to bring them out chilled, they taste extra refreshing that way!

Variations

  • Switch up the colors! Try orange or green food coloring for a whole rainbow of monster strawberries.

  • Add more than one candy eye to make silly multi-eyed creatures.

  • Use different sprinkle eyes – tiny ones, big ones, or even mismatched sizes for extra personality.

  • Dip the tips of the strawberries in black or dark chocolate after the purple layer sets to give them little monster “hairdos.”

  • Roll the freshly dipped strawberries in Halloween sprinkles before the coating sets for a festive twist.

Substitutions

  • If you don’t have Ghirardelli’s wafers, any good-quality white chocolate chips or bars will work just fine.

  • Coconut oil can be swapped with vegetable shortening or a little bit of canola oil to help smooth out the chocolate.

  • No purple gel food coloring? Mix red and blue food coloring together until you get the shade you like.

  • If you can’t find the PME sprinkle eyes, any candy eyes from the baking aisle will do the trick.

  • Strawberries are classic, but you could also dip raspberries or blackberries for mini monster bites.

FAQs

Can I make these strawberries ahead of time?
Yes! You can make them a day in advance and keep them chilled in the fridge. Just store them in a single layer so they don’t stick together.

Do I have to use purple food coloring?
Not at all, you can go with any spooky color you love. Orange, green, or even black all look fantastic for Halloween.

What if I don’t have coconut oil?
No problem. You can use a little vegetable shortening or canola oil to get the same smooth, glossy coating.

How do I keep the chocolate from sliding off the strawberries?
Make sure your strawberries are completely dry before dipping, any moisture will make it harder for the chocolate to stick.

Can I freeze these strawberries?
I don’t recommend freezing them since strawberries release too much water when they thaw, which can ruin the coating. They’re best enjoyed fresh from the fridge.
