Easter is just around the corner, and always signals new life, new beginnings and hopefully better weather. This year Easter is later than usual, so theoretically the weather should start to get warmer and the sunshine always makes everything feel so much better doesn’t it?! And let’s not forget about all the chocolate treats that we love to indulge in at this time of year too!

As a UK money blogger, I love finding great deals for my readers, and sharing freebies too when I can. That’s why I’m really thrilled to be able to take part in this giveaway along with other fantastic money bloggers, giving our readers the chance to win some amazing prizes this Easter!     1. Looking for things like books, dvds second hand saves us some money. Also when it’s cold, using hot water bottles instead of the gas heating also saves a few pennies.

  11. before shopping online check if the seller is listed on a cashback site e.g. topcashback/quidco if they are you earn money for purchases made online

  12. Brush up on your cooking skills – it’s so easy to cook from scratch, healthier and a lot cheaper than ready meals, jar sauces, etc.

  13. Have no spend days and don’t go on sites that list deals (you know, the one that’s “hot”) because, although it’s a bargain, you don’t really need it!

  24. I haven’t bought any new clothing for years apart from underwear and socks. Instead I upcycle clothes from charity shops and clothes discarded by my son’s girlfriend, who is always buying new clothes and throwing away clothes she’s bored with. There are loads of blog posts and pinterest boards that can give you ideas on upcycling. Most recently I took 2 barely worn sweaters, and combined them to make a “new” sweater dress. Very simple, and looks quite stylish if I say so myself!

  27. I compare prices online for everything I buy, there are sometimes masive differences and I take into account the cost of postage too so I have an all inclusive price to go by.

  34. Everyone knows about cashback sites for online shopping but did you know you can earn cash back on many high street purchases by buying gift vouchers online (as late as when you’re in the shop ready to buy if you have a smartphone) or linking your debit card to your cashback account

  36. Record your expenses and stick to your budget, I always do this and it’s a great way to stop you from overspending

  43. My friends and I get together every month with swapsies. That can be anything from clothes, shoes, make up, toiletries and bags. We swap all our unwanted items with each other and everything always gets snapped up. We all bring a dish (food) and our own drink. Very cheap and cheerful night and we go away with some bargains too.

    Also… i can be boring and a bit awkward to really take a hard look at your outgoings, but when you’re starting to sort out your finances drawing up a budget can really help you realise just where you’re cash is going.

    And for me, a big one was identifying triggers to frivolous spending: when I’m feeling sad/stressed, I tend to try eat my way to temporary happiness OR i end up scrolling through sales/ebay on my phone and lots of little ‘treats’ can really add up. Now I recognise this I can find healthier ways to get myself back on track!

  59. i do my food shop daily sos i eat what i fancy on the day dont overspend and have no wasted food. i also buy from charity sop and as i go shopping in the evening get discounted produce

  60. My tip is to buy birthday and Christmas presents etc. in advance rather than last minute so that you can take advantage of the sales and discounts

  61. Keep a penny jar, and regularly empty your purse into it up to 50p’s. It’s amazing how quickly it adds up!

  62. I save anything under £1 in a jar every year, then i use this towards my holiday. I saved £352.52 last year

  63. I recycle my daughters plastic candyfloss containers and use them as useful containers for other items so they get plenty of use. Plus I buy the candyfloss in bargain stores to take to the cinema!

  64. I buy most of my clothes second hand from charity shops or ebay. Charity shops have the advantage of being able to see things but ebay tends to be (in my experience) better clothes. I also do auctions instead of buy it now to grab bargains.

  65. Buy non-perishable items when on special offer / multi buys (as long as you have the space to store them!)

  83. Make your own little gift baskets for presents. Very personal and much cheaper. Also look for the marked down food in shops, especially co-op orange label. Sometimes I say to my hubby, just going to the shops to get some orange label for tea.

  86. I use Monzo to track my money and budget with the app, plus it sends me a notification everytime i spend something

  94. We always write out a weekly menu and shop online just ordering exactly what is needed each week .. not tempted then to buy items on offer and no food wastage!

  98. I pay upfront for line rental to save a month off my bill. I also change energy providers regularly shop around for everything and switch banks for a lump sum usually at least £100. Be proactive £1s do mount up.

  99. A car boot sale once a year – to declutter the house and then spend on a chosen item or save it for something special so the profit doesn’t just get frittered away.

  100. Supermarket shop at 6pm when the fresh produce is reduced to sell. I never pay full price for bread or fruit and veg.

  101. Use compare website to source the best offers for special offers for food, clothing, household items and insurance (house, car, utility and travel insurance).

  102. Meal planning always does it for me! I save so much money by planning what we are going to have for meals and also making sure we cook extra portions that are then cooled and refrigerated or frozen for later use!

  103. Find out when supermarkets tend to put out their reduced items each day. Sundays are even better as shorter opening hours.
    Join cashback sites for both cashback and freebies.
    And of course, comparison sites.

  107. Don’t splurdge wages at the beginning of the month, it often leads to impulse purchases, instead treat yourself just before payday so you have a chance to think if your actually want or need something – then if you don’t s spend it you can save it!

  113. Buy loo rolls,kitchen rolls & cleaning chemicals in bulk from free-to-join shopping ‘clubs’ e.g JTF.

  114. If you have children who always seem to be at parties, buy toys when they are on offer (i.e. 2 for 1) to store away for future parties.

  115. Meal planning and charity shops! Both are much more eco friendly too.
