Make your own gifts instead of buying. Home made always means so much more too x
CHARITY SHOPS ARE A GREAT WAY TO SAVE MONEY
The way I have saved the most money is by meal planning and batch cooking
Move bank accounts to take advantage of perks and earn more interest!
Book flights Tuesdays and Thursdays, avoiding Monday and Friday. It’s amazing what you can save!
Grow your own fruit and veg. Pick as you need so no waste.
I love to use discount and cashback sites to earn a little extra cash
my best tip is . . . . buy fresh food reduced for use by date and freeze . . . . l sometimes save up to 90% of original value
Don’t just buy something because it’s on offer; really think about whether you need it and will use it first.
Grow your own fruit and Veg!
Looking for things like books, dvds second hand saves us some money. Also when it’s cold, using hot water bottles instead of the gas heating also saves a few pennies.
I use the if you dont need it, dont buy it!
The good old one, Look after the pennys and the pounds will look after themselves, so true!
Meal planning saves money and waste.
Never throw any food away
meal planning and batch cooking
before shopping online check if the seller is listed on a cashback site e.g. topcashback/quidco if they are you earn money for purchases made online
Brush up on your cooking skills – it’s so easy to cook from scratch, healthier and a lot cheaper than ready meals, jar sauces, etc.
Have no spend days and don’t go on sites that list deals (you know, the one that’s “hot”) because, although it’s a bargain, you don’t really need it!
Use cashback sites for free money on your purchases
Put a penny in a jar on the first day of the year two on the second and so on and save £667.95 by the end of the year
Only buy clothes when they are on sale
Do your grocery shopping online after menu planning for the week. That way you won’t impulse buy.
Meal planning and batch cooking meals saves a lot of money and time!
Save your coppers in a jar. It can mount up to quite a bit each year.
I try and put between £2-£5 aside each week to save for Christmas. It’s a small enough amount that I don’t really notice its gone, but it’s a big help come December
before buying something, sleep o it for a few days to see if you still want it
Shop around especially for big purchases and don’t be embarrassed ask for discount they can only say no
Never go food shopping when you’re hungry. Make a list and stick to it.
I haven’t bought any new clothing for years apart from underwear and socks. Instead I upcycle clothes from charity shops and clothes discarded by my son’s girlfriend, who is always buying new clothes and throwing away clothes she’s bored with. There are loads of blog posts and pinterest boards that can give you ideas on upcycling. Most recently I took 2 barely worn sweaters, and combined them to make a “new” sweater dress. Very simple, and looks quite stylish if I say so myself!
Shop with a shopping list so you dont end up buying things you dont need
Little sums add up!
Always using cashback!
I always plan meals for the week and make my shopping list based on that to stop impulse buying!
I compare prices online for everything I buy, there are sometimes masive differences and I take into account the cost of postage too so I have an all inclusive price to go by.
Use cashback sites when shopping online it’s surprising how quickly the money mounts up.
When buying online, always have a nose for a voucher/discount code. 99% of the time I can find one!
My best money saving tip is to prioritise needs over wants. I have saved myself a lot of money by doing this.
shop around for the best deals
Don’t go food shopping on an empty stomach!
I love to batch cook and freeze. We do not waste food in our house and everything gets used up. Saves me so much money.
I batch cook with the slow cooker and freeze the meals for the week
Mine is to have an account on all the cashback websites, and shop around them for the best rate before placing an order.
Everyone knows about cashback sites for online shopping but did you know you can earn cash back on many high street purchases by buying gift vouchers online (as late as when you’re in the shop ready to buy if you have a smartphone) or linking your debit card to your cashback account
Got myself a slow cooker, can turn even scraps into a tasty stew
Record your expenses and stick to your budget, I always do this and it’s a great way to stop you from overspending
Invest in a slowcooker and make home made ready meals to freeze using up all your leftovers into the bargain.
Make sure to budget every month and save what’s left over.
Freeze all leftovers (remember to label).Great for stir fries/curries/soup.
I save a little every month, I put it away in a seperate account and don’t miss it now. It’s my rainy day fund that I can’t wait to spend one day x
I visit my local supermarket regularly early evening to scout for reduced items and I grow my own fruit and veg.
keep a separate saving account and spending accounts
If you need to make a long rail journey, sue a split ticketing site to save yourself some cash. By splitting the long journey into lots of small tickets they have saved me 20% on some journeys in the past – and with the ridiculous pricing of UK rail tickets that can be significant.
I make my own sweets as gifts everyone loves them
My friends and I get together every month with swapsies. That can be anything from clothes, shoes, make up, toiletries and bags. We swap all our unwanted items with each other and everything always gets snapped up. We all bring a dish (food) and our own drink. Very cheap and cheerful night and we go away with some bargains too.
Online shopping otherwise I am sold on the marketing!
Set up a standing order into a savings account. So long as it’s the right amount, you won’t miss it and you’ll have a nice nest egg building up.
we budget and try to spend out on things monthly for example food shopping and petrol
Eat before going to the supermarket, take a list and pay in cash.
I have a spreadsheet of all outgoings for the month, then I use a little notebook with my money for the month and deduct from it as I spend. I don’t earn much so it is essential I do this.
Look after the pennies and the pounds will look after themselves( my grandad told me this)
Always do your research when making purchases to check you really are getting a good deal, look at cashback sites and sign up for email alerts!
budget monthly an use cash envelopes to pay for things so you don’t overspend.

Never buy on impulse and always ask yourself if you really need something before buying.
I put as much away all the year to pay for Christmas
I always shop in the sales section of websites – the la redoute sales are amazing, the products can be reduced from 85 to 25 like the coat I bought, which is an amazing discount! Always look for discount codes online as well!
Definitely meal planning- saves money AND cuts down on food waste, win win!
Also… i can be boring and a bit awkward to really take a hard look at your outgoings, but when you’re starting to sort out your finances drawing up a budget can really help you realise just where you’re cash is going.
And for me, a big one was identifying triggers to frivolous spending: when I’m feeling sad/stressed, I tend to try eat my way to temporary happiness OR i end up scrolling through sales/ebay on my phone and lots of little ‘treats’ can really add up. Now I recognise this I can find healthier ways to get myself back on track!
i do my food shop daily sos i eat what i fancy on the day dont overspend and have no wasted food. i also buy from charity sop and as i go shopping in the evening get discounted produce
My tip is to buy birthday and Christmas presents etc. in advance rather than last minute so that you can take advantage of the sales and discounts
Go for the deals.
Keep a penny jar, and regularly empty your purse into it up to 50p’s. It’s amazing how quickly it adds up!
I save anything under £1 in a jar every year, then i use this towards my holiday. I saved £352.52 last year
I recycle my daughters plastic candyfloss containers and use them as useful containers for other items so they get plenty of use. Plus I buy the candyfloss in bargain stores to take to the cinema!
I always look for multi-buy bargains
I buy most of my clothes second hand from charity shops or ebay. Charity shops have the advantage of being able to see things but ebay tends to be (in my experience) better clothes. I also do auctions instead of buy it now to grab bargains.

Stock up on food when its on offer
If you don’t need it, don’t buy it.
If you see something you want leave it and if you still want it in 2 weeks ago ahead and buy it to stop spur of the moment purchases
Meal plan for the week and make sure I go on my own to do the food shopping.
If online shopping always check price comparison sites, and if you dont need it new buy from Ebay or check Gumtree for local bargains.

Head to the car boot sale. You can find some real bargains and really good stuff.
Looking for items that you need that people don’t want anymore – or need. Also coupons, vouchers, and shop around!
Buy Christmas presents/cards/wrapping in the sales.
Selling all my unwanted items on eBay
Make food in batches and freeze some for later in the week. Much more economical. Also a slow cooker is a great way to cook less expensive pieces of meat. And don’t shop when you are hungry. You’ll buy more than you need.
Meal plan and do your shopping online. It stops you buying on impulse.

Supermarket shop at 6pm when the fresh produce is reduced to sell. I never pay full price for bread or fruit and veg.
Use compare website to source the best offers for special offers for food, clothing, household items and insurance (house, car, utility and travel insurance).
Meal planning always does it for me! I save so much money by planning what we are going to have for meals and also making sure we cook extra portions that are then cooled and refrigerated or frozen for later use!
Find out when supermarkets tend to put out their reduced items each day. Sundays are even better as shorter opening hours.
Join cashback sites for both cashback and freebies.
And of course, comparison sites.
all ways use our local discount/market store
To use charity shops, I’ve found some really good bargains
only use cash…it is the best way to budget…if you don’t have it you cant spend it.
Don’t splurdge wages at the beginning of the month, it often leads to impulse purchases, instead treat yourself just before payday so you have a chance to think if your actually want or need something – then if you don’t s spend it you can save it!
Research prices online before buying. Good idea no matter how many expensive the item is.

I use the internet to check out prices before I buy particularly with supermarket grocery shopping
If you have children who always seem to be at parties, buy toys when they are on offer (i.e. 2 for 1) to store away for future parties.
