Why a specialist stockist is always a good choice

If you’re a regular reader here then you’ll know that I’m all about saving money where I can. I always spend time looking for the best deals whenever we’re making a large purchase. But there are times when the cheapest option isn’t always the best, and that’s particularly true when it comes to buying specialist products. This is also true when you’re buying supplies for your business, and it’s even more important to do your research here so that you’re not only getting a good deal, but you’re also buying a quality product.
Buying in bulk
If you’re running any kind of business, then you probably have to make quite a lot of bulk purchases. Buying in bulk is a well-known way to save money. You can often get really great deals and the more you buy the bigger your saving will be. Small businesses are often put off buying in bulk as it then means they have to spend money on storage. Buying products from a specialist supplier will give you more room for negotiation here as they hold larger quantities of stock and have far greater room for negotiation on price.
It’s really important to work out how long you’re likely to be storing products before they’re sold so that you can work out the storage costs to make sure that buying in bulk really will actually save you money.
Quality over price
Saving money is important for any business, but it’s a false economy if you buy faulty or sub-standard products. You need to be sure that the products and services you provide to your customers is of the highest quality possible. If you’re using products that just aren’t adequate then you’re going to run into problems.
For example, if you’re using or re-selling rope as part of your business, it’s no good if it’s of a low quality. Just imagine all the complaints and refund requests you’ll get if the rope frays on the first use! Using a specialist supplier means that you know that what you’re buying is high quality and your customers are far likely to make repeat purchases.
After care
With many specialist suppliers, the after-care on offer is incredible. As a business, you need to know that you have a point of contact in case there are any problems with supplies. Just as your customers should be able to contact you easily, you should be able to contact your suppliers in the same way. It’s important that you can speak to somebody with specialist knowledge and you just won’t get that if you buy from a more general supplier.

If your business relies on buying high quality materials (and most do), then it is always important to get a good price, you need to make a profit after all. But, it’s equally important to makes sure that the products are high-quality too. Buying cheap, low quality products will only lead to more costs in the long run, as customers return products and demand refunds. It’s a difficult balancing act but it’s really important to get this right.
