Cookies and Cream Fudge

If you love Oreos, then you’re going to love this Cookies and Cream Fudge! It’s rich, creamy, packed with chunks of Oreo cookies, and so easy to make. I’m a big fan of recipes that look like you’ve put loads of effort into them when actually they’re really simple, and this is definitely one of those!

You only need five ingredients to make this fudge, and there’s no baking involved either. Everything comes together in a saucepan, then you just pop it in the fridge for a couple of hours to set. The hardest part is probably waiting for it to be ready! I love the combination of sweet white chocolate and crunchy Oreo pieces, and you get a bit of both in every bite.

This is a lovely recipe to make around Christmas, especially if you’re putting together homemade treat boxes for friends and family. It’s also great for parties, bake sales, or just keeping a little something sweet in the fridge. You can make it ahead of time too, which is always a bonus when life gets busy!

Why We Love This Recipe

  • Just five ingredients – You only need a handful of simple ingredients to make this fudge, and there’s a good chance you’ve already got some of them in your kitchen.
  • No baking needed – I love a sweet treat that doesn’t involve turning the oven on! Just melt, mix, and pop it in the fridge to set.
  • Perfect for Oreo lovers – The creamy white chocolate fudge with little chunks of crunchy Oreo cookies is such a good combination.
  • Great for gifting – Cut it into squares, pop a few pieces into a pretty bag or gift box, and you’ve got a lovely homemade gift for Christmas or any other occasion.
  • Easy to make ahead – This is one of those recipes you can make the day before you need it, which is always handy when you’ve got lots of other things to do.
  • The kids love it – It’s sweet, chocolatey, and packed with Oreos. What’s not to love?

Equipment

  • 8×8-inch baking dish – This is the perfect size for making nice, thick squares of fudge.
  • Medium saucepan – For melting the white chocolate, condensed milk, and butter together.
  • Wooden spoon or silicone spatula – For stirring everything together and spreading the fudge into the pan.
  • Parchment paper – Makes it much easier to lift the fudge out once it’s set.
  • Sharp knife – For cutting the fudge into squares.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups white chocolate chips – These give the fudge its lovely creamy texture and sweet white chocolate flavor. I’d go for good-quality chocolate chips if you can, as they make a difference here.
  • 1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk – This helps make the fudge lovely and smooth without having to mess around with sugar thermometers or anything complicated.
  • 2 tablespoons butter – Just a little butter helps make the fudge extra rich and creamy. I usually go for unsalted butter.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract – A little vanilla adds some extra flavor and goes really nicely with the white chocolate and Oreos.
  • 18 Oreo cookies, roughly crushed – You want a mixture of bigger chunks and smaller pieces so you get plenty of Oreo goodness in every bite. Don’t crush them too finely!

Step 1: Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper, making sure there’s enough overhang on the sides to lift the fudge out later.

Step 3: Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract and crushed cookies until evenly combined.

Step 4: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and spread it into an even layer.

Step 5: Refrigerate for about 2 hours, or until the fudge is completely set.

Step 6: Once firm, lift the fudge out using the parchment overhang and cut into squares.

What to Serve with Cookies and Cream Fudge

This Cookies and Cream Fudge is pretty rich and sweet, so you really don’t need much to go with it. I love serving it cut into little squares so everyone can just grab a piece or two. It’s lovely on its own, but there are a few things that go really nicely with it, especially if you’re putting together a dessert platter or making treats for a party.

  • A cup of coffee – The slight bitterness of coffee goes really nicely with the sweet white chocolate fudge. Perfect for an afternoon treat!

  • Hot chocolate – If you’re making this around Christmas, serve a few squares alongside a mug of hot chocolate for an extra cozy treat.

  • Fresh strawberries or raspberries – The slightly tart fruit helps balance out the sweetness of the fudge.

  • Vanilla ice cream – Chop a couple of squares into smaller pieces and sprinkle them over a bowl of ice cream. So good!

  • Other homemade treats – Add the fudge to a platter with brownies, cookies, chocolate bark, and truffles for parties or holiday gatherings.

  • A cold glass of milk – Sometimes the simplest things are the best, and milk goes perfectly with anything made with Oreos!

Storing

Once your Cookies and Cream Fudge has completely set, you can cut it into squares and pop it into an airtight container in the fridge. I like to put a piece of parchment paper between the layers to stop the pieces sticking together. It should keep nicely for up to 2 weeks, although I can’t imagine it lasting that long in our house! I actually think this fudge tastes even better straight from the fridge when it’s lovely and firm.

You can also freeze this fudge if you want to make a batch ahead of time, which is really handy around Christmas. Just wrap the pieces individually or separate them with parchment paper, then pop them into a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. When you’re ready to eat them, leave them to thaw in the fridge for a few hours. The Oreos might lose a little of their crunch after freezing, but the fudge will still taste lovely!

Variations & Substitutions

One of the things I love about this Cookies and Cream Fudge is how easy it is to change things up a little. The basic recipe is lovely just as it is, but you can swap the cookies, add a few extra toppings, or make it a bit more festive for Christmas. Here are a few ideas you could try!

  • Try different Oreo flavors – Golden Oreos, mint Oreos, or peanut butter Oreos would all be lovely in this fudge. Just use the same amount as the original recipe.

  • Use milk chocolate – If you’re not a big fan of white chocolate, you could try milk chocolate chips instead. The flavor will be different, but you’ll still get that lovely combination of chocolate and crunchy cookies.

  • Add some sprinkles – A handful of colorful sprinkles on top makes this fudge look really pretty, especially for birthday parties or bake sales.

  • Make it festive – Add some red and green sprinkles or crushed candy canes on top for an easy Christmas version.

  • Try different cookies – You don’t have to stick with Oreos! Crushed chocolate chip cookies, Biscoff cookies, or even graham crackers would be delicious.

  • Add a chocolate drizzle – Melt a little milk or dark chocolate and drizzle it over the top once the fudge has set for an extra chocolatey finish.

  • Add some nuts – Chopped walnuts or pecans would add a lovely bit of crunch if you fancy something a little different.

FAQs

Can I make Cookies and Cream Fudge without a candy thermometer?

Yes! That's one of the things I love about this recipe. You don't need a candy thermometer or any complicated fudge-making techniques. Just melt everything together over low heat, stir in the Oreos, and pop it in the fridge to set. It's really that simple!

How long does Cookies and Cream Fudge take to set?

You'll need to leave your fudge in the fridge for around 2 hours, although it might take a little longer depending on how cold your fridge is. I usually leave it until it's completely firm before trying to cut it. If it's still a little soft, just give it another hour.

Why is my Cookies and Cream Fudge not setting?

If your fudge is still soft after a couple of hours, it might just need a bit longer in the fridge. It's also important to measure the ingredients properly, especially the white chocolate and condensed milk. Make sure you're using sweetened condensed milk rather than evaporated milk, as they're not the same thing!

Can I use white chocolate bars instead of white chocolate chips?

Absolutely! You can use a good-quality white chocolate bar instead of chips. Just chop it into small pieces so it melts evenly. You'll need the same weight of chocolate as you would if you were using chips.

Do I need to remove the cream filling from the Oreos?

No, you can leave the filling in! Just roughly crush the whole cookies and stir them into the fudge mixture. The filling adds to that lovely cookies and cream flavor, so there's no need to spend ages scraping it out.

Can I make Cookies and Cream Fudge ahead of time?

Yes, and it's actually a really handy recipe to make ahead, especially around Christmas when you've got lots of other things to prepare. You can make it a few days before you need it and keep it in an airtight container in the fridge until you're ready to serve.

Can I freeze homemade Cookies and Cream Fudge?

You can! I like to separate the squares with parchment paper before putting them into a freezer-safe container. They'll keep for up to 3 months in the freezer. Just let them thaw in the fridge before eating. The Oreo pieces might be a little softer, but they'll still taste lovely.

How do I cut fudge into neat squares?

Make sure your fudge is completely set before cutting it. Lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper and place it on a cutting board. Use a large, sharp knife and wipe the blade clean between cuts. I find smaller squares work best because this fudge is quite rich!
