Easy Big Mac Sliders (Copycat McDonald’s Style)

I’ve always had a soft spot for a classic Big Mac, but making a full burger spread at home can feel like a bit of a project. That’s why I started making these Big Mac Sliders instead. They’ve got all the same delicious layers, with juicy beef, melty cheese, pickles, lettuce, and that famous special sauce, just in bite-size form. They’re so easy to pull together, and they disappear just as fast as they come out of the oven.

These sliders are perfect for those nights when I want something fun and comforting without spending all evening in the kitchen. I usually make them for family movie nights or when we have friends over, and they always get rave reviews. The best part is you can prepare the sauce ahead of time, so when it’s time to bake, everything comes together in minutes. It’s fast food flavor made fresh and with a lot more love.

I also love how versatile these are. You can serve them for game day, a casual weekend dinner, or even as part of a party spread. They’re filling, flavorful, and have that nostalgic taste that makes everyone smile. Once you try them, you might never crave a drive-thru Big Mac again because these little guys totally hit the spot.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb of ground beef – the heart of these sliders, cooked until perfectly browned and juicy.
  • 1 tsp pepper – adds a little kick of seasoning to the beef.
  • 1 tsp salt – brings out all the savory flavors in every bite.
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls – soft, slightly sweet rolls that make the perfect base for mini burgers.
  • 6 slices of American cheese – for that classic melty layer you expect from a Big Mac.
  • 1/2 cup of white onion (diced) – gives the sliders that signature crunch and tang.
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted) – brushed on top for golden, buttery buns.
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds – the finishing touch that makes these look just like the real deal.
  • 1/2 cup of mayonnaise – the creamy base for the famous “special sauce.”
  • 2 tsp mustard – adds a tangy balance to the sauce.
  • 1 tsp vinegar – gives the sauce a little extra zing.
  • 3 tbsp pickled relish – for that sweet and tangy flavor that ties it all together.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder – enhances the flavor of the sauce without overpowering it.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder – adds just the right touch of savory depth.
  • 1/2 tsp paprika – gives the sauce a pop of color and a subtle smokiness.
  • 5 oz of shredded iceberg lettuce – cool, crisp, and essential for that Big Mac crunch.
  • 1/2 cup of sliced dill pickles – because no Big Mac-inspired slider is complete without them.

Recipe Instructions

You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

1. Add the ground beef to a large skillet and season with salt and pepper. Cook over medium-high heat for about 10 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks, until the meat is browned and fully cooked. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Without separating the rolls, slice them in half horizontally. Set the top half aside and place the bottom half on the prepared baking sheet. Lay the cheese slices evenly over the bottom buns, then spread the cooked beef on top. Sprinkle the onions evenly over the meat.

3. Replace the top buns, brush them with melted butter, and sprinkle sesame seeds over the tops. Bake for about 12 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown.

4. In a small bowl, mix together the mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, pickle relish, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth. When the sliders come out of the oven, carefully lift off the top buns and set them aside.

5. Sprinkle the lettuce evenly over the onions, then drizzle the prepared sauce across the top. Add two pickle slices to each slider, replace the top buns, and carefully slice to separate. Serve warm and enjoy!

Serving & Storing

  • I love serving these straight out of the oven while the cheese is still gooey and the tops are golden. They’re at their absolute best when warm and fresh.

  • If I’m making them for a party, I’ll keep them covered in foil on a low oven setting until everyone’s ready to eat. That way, they stay warm without drying out.

  • A side of fries, onion rings, or even a quick salad makes these sliders feel like a fun fast-food meal at home.

  • Leftovers (if there are any!) can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.

  • To reheat, I just pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes, or until heated through. The buns crisp up again nicely, and they taste almost as good as the first time.

Variations

  • Double up the meat: Add two thin layers of beef for an extra hearty slider that feels even closer to the real Big Mac.

  • Use different cheese: Swap the American cheese for cheddar, Swiss, or pepper jack for a little twist.

  • Add bacon: Crispy bacon slices make these even more indulgent and add great texture.

  • Spicy kick: Mix a little hot sauce or sriracha into the special sauce for a zesty version.

  • Pickle lovers’ version: Add extra pickles (or even a mix of dill and bread-and-butter) for more crunch and tang.

  • Low-carb option: Skip the Hawaiian rolls and serve the filling in lettuce wraps.

  • Mini meal prep: Make the beef and sauce ahead of time, then assemble and bake right before serving.

  • BBQ twist: Swap the Big Mac sauce for barbecue sauce and top with caramelized onions for a smoky spin.

Substitutions

  • Ground beef: You can use ground turkey or chicken if you want a leaner option.

  • Hawaiian rolls: Any soft dinner rolls or slider buns will work just as well.

  • American cheese: Try cheddar slices, Colby Jack, or even mozzarella for a different flavor.

  • White onion: Swap for yellow or red onion if that’s what you have on hand.

  • Butter: Olive oil or melted margarine can be used for brushing the tops.

  • Mayonnaise: Greek yogurt or sour cream works in a pinch for the sauce base.

  • Pickled relish: Finely chopped pickles can replace the relish without changing the flavor too much.

  • Paprika: Smoked paprika, chili powder, or even a dash of cayenne can give a fun flavor twist.

FAQs

Can I make these sliders ahead of time?
Yes! You can cook the beef and mix up the special sauce a day in advance. When you’re ready to serve, just assemble the sliders and bake them fresh.

Can I freeze Big Mac Sliders?
You can, but they taste best fresh. If you do freeze them, wrap them tightly in foil and store them in an airtight container for up to a month. Reheat in the oven so the buns crisp up again.

What’s the best way to reheat leftovers?
I like to pop them in the oven at 350°F for about 10 minutes. It warms everything through and keeps the buns from getting soggy.

Can I make these without the special sauce?
Definitely! You can swap it out for ketchup and mayo or your favorite burger sauce if you prefer something simpler.

Can I use regular-sized burger buns instead?
Of course. Just double the filling for each and bake a little longer until everything is heated through.

How can I make these vegetarian?
Try using a plant-based ground “beef” substitute and a vegan mayo for the sauce. They’ll still have that classic Big Mac flavor.
