Get Paid to Watch Netflix

Get Paid to Watch Netflix

We’ve had a Netflix subscription for a few years now after ditching our Sky TV package which was just becoming far too expensive. I love binge-watching Netflix in the evenings once the kids have gone to bed, but I also love making extra money in my spare time too. I’ve discovered a few ways to get paid to watch Netflix and the extra cash always comes in really handy.

I’ve often talked about the time when both myself and my husband got made redundant within a month of each other. It was the run-up to Christmas, we already had a two-year-old, and I was pregnant with our second child. That was a really tough time and I vowed back then that I would do whatever it took to make sure we never ended up in that situation ever again. Since then, I’ve worked hard to build up my own business as well as working on several side hustles so that we always have multiple income streams. I make money watching Netflix in a range of different ways and I’m going to share them with you in this post.

There are two different main options if you want to get paid whilst watching Netflix. The first is to get paid TO watch Netflix, and the second is to get paid WHILST watching Netflix. There’s quite a big difference and we’re going to take a look at both options.

Get paid to watch Netflix

With these first ways to make money watching Netflix, I’m sharing some ideas that will allow you to actually get paid to watch Netflix. This means that you actually HAVE TO be watching Netflix in order to make money. Sounds great, doesn’t it?!

Become a Netflix Tagger

The first on the list of ways to get paid to watch Netflix is to become a Netflix Tagger, also known as a Metadata Analyst which sounds far more fancy!

A Netflix Tagger watches Netflix shows and adds relevant tags to them. Tags include information about the show, including release date, genre, language, rating etc. This is so that viewers can easily find shows and movies just by filtering certain tabs.

Sounds like the dream job doesn’t it?

There is a bit of a catch with this though. Netflix has very high standards for their Taggers. As you can imagine, working for the most popular streaming service in the world is something that lots of people want to do, so Netflix can afford to be picky. Jobs like this tend to have a tonne of applications and get snapped up really quickly, so you’ll need to be quick.

Keep an eye on the Netflix career page for Tagger jobs and candidate requirements.

Become a Netflix Translator

Another way you can get paid to watch Netflix is by getting a job as a Netflix translator. However, it seems as though Netflix have closed this off at the moment and are using external agencies for their translations. It’s still worth keeping an eye on the Netflix website for job openings though. If you are fluent in a foreign language, then this could be a great way to make money whilst also getting to binge-watch Netflix.

Start a Netflix niche site/blog

Blogging and building niche sites is what I do as my full-time job now and it’s something I absolutely love to do. I feel extremely lucky to be able to bring in a decent income doing something I love and working for myself.

But, building up new sites and making money from them isn’t something that happens overnight. I put in a lot of hours getting to this point whilst also working another job and taking care of my family. I would work on my laptop in front of the TV night after night. As I loved it so much, it never felt like work, but I did need to put the effort in.

Half the battle of building a successful niche site or blog is to enjoy what you do and enjoy what you write about. If you’re not interested in your niche, then you’re far more likely to give up.

If Netflix is your passion and you love to binge-watch Netflix, and you’re always the first to watch new shows, then you could start up a Netflix review blog.

With any review blog, you actually need to be familiar with whatever it is you’re selling, particularly if you want Google to rank your posts in the search results. This is something that Google has really clamped down on in their February 2023 product reviews update. So in order to create a Netflix review site that gets traffic and starts to earn you money, you’ll need to put the time and effort into watching shows and movies on Netflix.

How do niche site owners make money?

One way that bloggers and niche site builders make money is through affiliate marketing – this means that you get paid when somebody clicks through your unique link and makes a purchase. Netflix no longer have an affiliate scheme, but you could also promote shows on Amazon Prime – they do have an affiliate scheme so this could be a great way to monetise your site. You can also add other affiliate links to your website that are relevant to the show or movie you’re writing about. For example, you could add affiliate links to Stranger Things merchandise in a review post about Stranger things.

You can also install adverts on your site too. The more traffic you get, the more money you’ll make through adverts.

Start a YouTube channel

If you love creating videos and you’re happy to be on camera, then you could get paid to watch Netflix by creating a Netflix review Youtube account.

YouTubers can earn a lot of money by growing their accounts and monetising them. It isn’t a quick way to make money, but it can certainly be lucrative. In 2022, the average income for YouTubers was $4,616 per month. And that’s just the average, so successful YouTubers will earn much more than this.

YouTubers get paid in a number of ways. One is through adverts which appear within their videos. Another is by placing affiliate links in their videos. Brands may also want to pay you to feature their products in your videos. This would work particularly well if you reviewed Netflix movies of TV shows that have a lot of merchandise. If you think you could create entertaining videos, then this could be a great way to make money watching Netflix.

Start your own podcast

Podcasts have become really popular over recent years and people love to listen to podcasts on their daily commute, whilst exercising or whilst just doing jobs around the house.

You could start your own podcast focusing on the Netflix streaming platform and talking about new releases. You could focus on certain genres such as science fiction, scary movies or animations, or you could just create a more general podcast sharing your views on Netflix productions as a whole.

Podcasters get paid by doing paid sponsorships and also by listener donations.

Get paid whilst watching Netflix

The other way to make money watching Netflix is to take part in other activities that are going to earn you extra money whilst also watching Netflix. This is something I’ve done for a few years now. For some reason, I can’t usually just sit and watch the TV, my hands need to be doing something! There are lots of side hustles you can do that don’t take too much concentration so that you can also watch Netflix at the same time.

Matched Betting

Matched Betting was my absolute favourite side hustle for a good few years. I first got into it when I was on maternity leave back in 2014 and the extra cash it brought in made a huge difference to us. It was something I was able to dip into as and when I had the time, which was just what I needed when our little boy arrived. Sometimes that would be in the middle of the night whilst doing night feeds, but it didn’t matter as I could access everything I needed online 24 hours a day.

Matched Betting is the process of getting a guaranteed return from bets by taking advantage of bookie offers. It’s not gambling, but if you have an addictive personality or a history of out-of-control gambling, then it might be a good idea to skip this one.

In my early days of Matched Betting, I regularly made £500-£1,000 per month. That was when I didn’t have any bookie accounts and could take advantage of all of the new customer offers. I also had a lot of time on my hands whilst I waited for our son to arrive.

When you first start Matched Betting, you will need to concentrate on what you’re doing, as it’s vital that you follow the instructions in order to make a profit. However, once you’ve been doing it for a while, the whole process becomes second nature and is definitely something you can do to make money watching Netflix.

Rewards Sites

Another way you can make an additional income whilst watching Netflix is to use rewards sites. These sites are fairly self-explanatory, they reward you for completing tasks. These sites aren’t going to make you rich, but if you’re looking for a way to get paid to watch Netflix and you want something that doesn’t take too much concentration, then these can be a good way to do that.

Swagbucks

Swagbucks is one of the better-known rewards sites and has been around since 2008. With Swagbucks, you get rewarded for completing various different online tasks. These include:

  • Completing surveys
  • Watching videos
  • Searching the internet
  • Playing games
  • Earning cashback by clicking through to eligible retailers

Instagc

With Instagc, you get paid for completing online tasks. You earn points for every task you complete and you can redeem these points for gift cards which can be used at a number of retailers including Amazon.

ySense

Formerly Clixsense, ySense is another rewards site that you can just sit and do mindless tasks on and make money watching Netflix. It’s very similar to Instagc and you can redeem your points for gift cards or PayPal cash.

Slice the Pie

Slice the Pie works differently to the other rewards sites I’ve listed and pays you to review music, branding and fashion. It can be quite interesting to take part! If you want to make money whilst you’re watching Netflix, then you might want to skip the music tasks, but there’s absolutely no reason why you can’t make money with the branding and fashion tasks.

Casheo

Casheo is similar to Swagbucks and worth signing up to if you want to get paid to watch Netflix by doing simple, mindless tasks on your phone or laptop.

Take surveys

Online surveys are another way you can get paid whilst you’re watching Netflix. Some survey sites pay better than others, so here are my favourites:

Surveys are really easy to do and you don’t need to concentrate too hard so they’re perfect to sit and go through whilst you’re watching Netflix. Out of the survey sites I’ve listed, Prolific is by far my favourite. Prolific pay better than any of the other sites and they also pre-screen you, so if a survey is showing as available to you, then you’ll be able to click through and take it. Some survey sites screen people out after the first few questions and you won’t get paid when that happens.

Evening babysitting

Babysitting is a great way to bring in extra income. I did it when I was a teenager and I would regularly babysit for two young children on Saturday evenings whilst their parents went out. The children would go to bed at about 7 pm and I would babysit until after midnight. If Netflix had been a thing back then, I would definitely have been watching whilst the children were sleeping.

Print on Demand

A print on demand business works with a supplier or suppliers to create customised products when a customer places an order. You don’t need to hold any stock and you only pay your supplier when you receive an order.

In order to make money from print on demand, you just need to come up with some designs, find a supplier and decide what kinds of products you’d like your designs to be available on. This is definitely something you can do to make money watching Netflix.

You will need to spend some time designing your images or slogans and also spend some time advertising your products too.

Get paid to watch Netflix - print on demand

As you can see, there are lots of ways to get paid to watch Netflix which is ideal if you’re looking for ways to bring in some extra money around your existing commitments. With the cost of living spiralling, finding a way to make real money whilst also getting to enjoy your favourite movies can only be a good thing.
