How to Make Jack Skellington Oreos (Nightmare Before Christmas Treats)
Every Halloween, I love making a few themed treats that are just as fun to look at as they are to eat, and these Jack Skellington Oreos are definitely a favorite. If you’re a Nightmare Before Christmas fan like me, you’ll know Jack’s face is instantly recognizable, and the best part is, it’s super easy to recreate with just some candy melts and Oreos. No fancy decorating skills required, just a little piping and a lot of fun!
What I love most about these cookies is how they instantly add that spooky-but-cute touch to any Halloween party. They’re simple enough for kids to help with, but impressive enough to get a few “wow” moments when you set them out on a dessert table. Plus, Oreos dipped in creamy white chocolate? You really can’t go wrong there.
Whether you’re planning a full Nightmare Before Christmas movie night, or you just want something quick and creative to serve at your Halloween get-together, these Jack Skellington Oreos fit the bill. They’re no-bake, easy to make ahead, and always a crowd-pleaser. Honestly, they might just become a new Halloween tradition in your house too!

-
12 oz white candy melts – these give Jack his spooky pale face.

Serving & Storing
-
I love serving these Jack Skellington Oreos on a Halloween dessert table, they look so festive lined up on a spooky platter.
-
They’re also the perfect movie-night snack if you’re planning a Nightmare Before Christmas marathon.
-
If you’re making them ahead, just store the Oreos in an airtight container at room temperature.
-
They’ll stay fresh for about 4–5 days, but honestly, they never last that long in my house!
-
I don’t recommend refrigerating them since that can cause the candy coating to sweat, but they hold up beautifully at room temp.
Variations
-
Swap the Oreos for double-stuffed ones if you want a little extra filling (always a hit with my kids).
-
Use golden Oreos instead of classic for a slightly different flavor while still keeping Jack’s spooky look.
-
If you’re feeling creative, try using colored candy melts – orange or purple faces with black details make them extra festive for Halloween.
-
Instead of Jack, you could draw other Nightmare Before Christmas characters like Zero or Oogie Boogie (kids love this twist!).
-
For a quick shortcut, use edible markers to draw on the faces once the white candy coating has set.
Substitutions
-
If you don’t have white candy melts, you can use white chocolate chips instead, just melt them the same way.
-
Black candy melts can be swapped with dark chocolate and a little black gel food coloring to get that bold Jack look.
-
No piping bag? A zip-top bag with the corner snipped off works perfectly in a pinch.
-
If Oreos aren’t your favorite, try using another sandwich cookie, any round cookie with a flat top will do the trick.
-
Can’t find edible candy melts at all? You can even use royal icing or chocolate decorating pens for the face details.

FAQs
Can I make these ahead of time?
Yes! You can dip and decorate the Oreos a day or two before your party. Just keep them in an airtight container at room temperature until you’re ready to serve.
Do I need special tools to make the faces?
Nope—if you don’t have a piping bag, just use a zip-top bag and snip a tiny hole in the corner. It works just as well for drawing Jack’s grin and eyes.
Can I use regular chocolate instead of candy melts?
Absolutely. White chocolate or almond bark works great for the base, and you can use dark chocolate with a little black food coloring gel for the details.
Will these melt if I serve them outside?
If it’s warm, the candy coating can get soft, so I’d keep them inside until it’s time to bring them out. They hold up really well indoors.
How long do they last?
They’re best within 4–5 days, but honestly, they usually disappear much faster!
