How to make money with shop and scan
There are so many ways to make money online these days that it can be a little daunting. Alongside the many genuine ways to make money are plenty of scams which unfortunately often makes us even more sceptical about the genuine ways to make money! This is why I love shop and scan. With shop and scan, you make money from something you’d do anyway, so it involves very little extra effort, making it a great way to make some extra cash from home.
What is shop and scan?

Shop and Scan is a market research company run by Kantar on a mission to know the ins and outs of our shopping patterns in Great Britain. The information they gain is used by manufacturers and retailers to get an understanding for popular products and what might sell well in the future.
How to get involved with Shop and Scan
At the moment, Shop and Scan invite panel members through email. If you’ve been lucky enough to be invited to take part, then you can register here.
If you’ve not yet received an invitation, then all is not lost. You may have some success by registering your details with Volunteer4Panels. If you don’t get accepted immediately, then your details may be used in the future when they’re looking for panel members who match your criteria.
Shop and Scan need panel members from different parts of the country so that they can get an overall picture of what we’re buying as a nation. So if you’re not successful initially, there may be opportunities in your area in the future.
What happens if you get accepted?
If you’ve made the grade, then you might be wondering what happens next.
First of all, you will receive a barcode scanning device known as The Clicker. With this device, you scan all your shopping when you get it home each time you shop.

The information is then sent over to Shop and Scan where they collate it and analyse it.
You need to be consistent with your scanning and upload your items every time you shop so that Shop and Scan get a clear picture of your buying habits. If you’re going to be away from home for any length of time (on holiday for example), then you should use the online “unavailable to transmit” form which can be found on the Shop and Scan website.
What’s in it for you?
As a Shop and Scan panel member, you will receive points in return for scanning your shopping. Your points can then be redeemed for vouchers at any of these places:

Is it worth it?
Scanning your shopping with Shop and Scan is never going to make you an overnight millionaire. But that doesn’t mean it’s not worth it. The beauty with this is that you’re being rewarded for doing something that we all need to do anyway – shopping. Scanning your items isn’t particularly time-consuming and you make money from it, so in my eyes, it really is worth doing.
Have you been successfully invited to Shop and Scan? I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments.
