How to revamp your kitchen on a budget
We’ve all been spending far more time at home than ever before during the Coronavirus pandemic, and it’s prompted many of us to want to tackle some home improvements that we’ve previously managed to put off. Staring at the same surroundings day after day, it’s no wonder that we want our homes to look good and be practical for our busy family life. Home improvement can be a costly business, especially when it comes to giving the kitchen a revamp – but there are a few ways we can improve our kitchens without ripping the whole lot out and starting from scratch.
Replacing the worktop
One way to give your kitchen a whole new look without buying a whole new kitchen is to replace the worktops. This gives your kitchen an instant facelift, but it’s not a job for the faint hearted. Fitting a worktop involves lots of careful measuring, cutting and fitting, so you might want to seek the help of a professional here.
Whilst I’m all about being thrifty, a worktop is something that it’s worth spending a little more on in order to get a high quality product. Worktops need to be able to withstand heat, pressure and sharp knives and you want them to last for years to come. Buying the cheapest you can find isn’t always the best option.

Paint or replace the cupboard doors & drawer fronts
Another way to transform the look of your kitchen is to give the cupboard doors and drawer fronts a lick of paint. No matter what your cupboards are made from, there’s a paint that will work. There are all kinds of colours to choose from too, whether you want to go for a glossy, bright white or something a little more subtle.
If painting the doors yourself seems a little daunting, then you can opt to replace them instead. This is a more expensive option, but the replacement doors will last a long time and your kitchen will look completely different. This is a good option if you can afford it.
Paint the tiles
Kitchen tiles are often the things that date the quickest, and they can quickly become old fashioned. You can use a special tile paint to freshen them up and give the room a whole new look.

Alternatively, you could simply regrout the tiles using a more modern, black grout – this might sound unusual, but the finished result is ultra-modern and sleek.
Paint
Probably the simplest, quickest and cheapest way to give any room a makeover is to just give it a lick of paint. Simply painting the walls, ceiling, doors and skirting boards gives any room a lift – and that’s certainly true in the kitchen. Just make sure to use a paint that’s suitable for use in kitchens where there can be a lot of steam and condensation.

If your kitchen could do with a revamp but you’re worried about blowing the budget, then just doing one of these things will give the kitchen and instant facelift and shouldn’t cost you a fortune.
