There are so many ways to save money it can be a little overwhelming!
For many people, saving money is a huge struggle. Bills and family expenses mean that the budget is already stretched, leaving little room for stashing any cash away.
I found that taking part in a money saving challenge really helped me.
What is the Sealed Pot Challenge?
It’s pretty much what it says on the tin. The idea is that you find yourself a sealed pot. You can pick these up pretty cheap in pound shops and the like these days. Alternatively, if you want to be really thrifty, you can use an old jar or tin. An empty gravy granule jar can work really well. I found these online –
You will need to make a coin sized slot in the top and seal it with sellotape or something similar.
Once you’ve got your pot, the idea is that you stash away all your spare cash. Stick your change in every time you come home from the shops, put away any money left out of your budget at the end of the week.
When can you open your pot?
The idea is that you keep your pot sealed for a good length of time. I’m going to set our big opening day at Friday 24th November. That way you’ll have a wedge (hopefully) of cash to help contribute to Christmas.
Team this up with our Christmas Saving Challenge and you should have Christmas 2017 pretty much covered!
We’ve started a thread on our Facebook Group – we’d really love you to keep in touch and let us know how you’re getting on.
