Secret Santa Gifts Under £5 – No Need to Break your Budget!

Hopefully, you’ve been budgeting for Christmas throughout the year and you’re not approaching the festive season with an impending sense of dread! But sometimes, no matter how organised and careful you are, there’s always something ready to throw a spanner in the works. If you work in an office (or anywhere really), the chances are that somebody will organise a Secret Santa. Whilst it’s meant to be a bit of lighthearted fun, if you haven’t budgeted for it then it can actually quickly become a nightmare for anyone on a tight budget. But, don’t panic, I’ve put together some fabulous secret Santa gifts under £5 that will help you to stick to your budget.

What is secret Santa?

I’m sure most of us know all about how secret Santa works, but just in case you don’t, and you’ve been asked to join in with one, then here’s what it’s all about.

Every group will do things slightly differently, but the basic principles remain the same. Everybody’s name goes into a “hat”. Each person taking part then chooses a name and keeps it to themselves. Then, you have to go out and buy a present for the person you’ve been given, wrap it up with their name on and leave it under the tree.

The secret part comes in as the recipient won’t know who bought their gift.

It is a lovely idea in lots of ways, but it can mean that you end up spending more money than you intended as you want to make sure you buy something quirky or individualised for your chosen recipient.

It’s a really good idea to have a set budget for Secret Santa so that everybody spends roughly the same amount of money and nobody feels guilty about not splashing out.
