Three things you can do to make moving house stress-free

Whether you’re buying or renting a new property, the process is always a stressful one. In fact, moving homes is up there as one of the top 10 most stressful things anyone can do, which is enough to put you off, isn’t it?

Add into that a global pandemic and you can pretty much kiss your dream property goodbye, right? Well, not quite. With the property market still operating, and landlords still making their homes ‘tenant ready’ in 2021, there is no reason why your house move should be put on hold.

Of course, the pandemic could potentially make things more difficult, so today we’re sharing three things you can do to make moving to a new house much easier and less stressful in 2021.

1. Find the right letting agents

It doesn’t matter whether you’re renting for the first time or simply looking to move into a new rented property, the fact remains that a lousy landlord and letting agency can completely ruin your experience.

In many cases, it can offer more peace of mind to go through a lettings agents in Warrington when looking to rent, instead of communicating directly with a landlord as there are often extra services and checks included. But, if you are considering using a letting agents, do your research first. Ask yourself:

  • How long have they been operating?
  • Do they have any online reviews you can read?
  • How long do they take to get back to you about queries?
  • What additional support can they offer?
  • Are they affordable?

The right lettings agents in Warrington will have no issue answering your questions, so make sure to ask them before signing anything!

2. Plan ahead

What does your ideal home look like? If you’re unsure, sit down and plan what you want and need in your next property before you even think about viewings.

Have you ever made an impulse buy when you’ve gone to the supermarket without a list or any idea of the type of meals you want to make? We bet you have. And surprisingly, people make the same mistake when house hunting!

We can’t stress enough how important and helpful it can be to have an idea of what you’re looking for before you start making viewings. How many bedrooms do you want? Is a garden important to you? Do you require parking space?  How much do you know about the area?

These things will help you to narrow down your search as well as ensuring you don’t sign on the dotted line only to find some major issues with your house later on.

3. Make a “survival kit” to see you through those initial days and weeks

Those first few weeks in a new house can be chaotic. You are surrounded by boxes, and knowing where anything is can be impossible. So, having a “survival kit” that you can turn to for your essentials will really help you to get through those initial days whilst you’re sorting everything out.

This tip is even more prevalent today, as we are currently in the midst of a lockdown and so popping to the shops for something you might need isn’t as simple as it once was. Having everything in advance can really take a weight off your shoulders, so consider getting the following things together before the big day:

  • Tea, coffee & sugar
  • Bottles of water
  • Snacks (that won’t go off)
  • Toilet roll
  • Basic cleaning supplies
  • Mobile phone chargers
  • A few changes of clothing

Plus, anything else you feel you or your family/pets could need during the first couple of weeks in your new house.

The truth is when it comes to moving house, you can never be too prepared. It doesn’t matter if this is the first time you’ve moved house or the 5th, failing to plan will almost certainly lead to undue stress – and who needs that right now?

By following these three simple steps and finding a supportive letting agents in Warrington to take care of the finer details, you should be set up in your new pad before you know it!
