What does it take to be a successful Mum blogger?

Blogging is something I’m really passionate about. I love pretty much every aspect of blogging and unbelievably, it’s gone from being a fun hobby to a growing business within a few years. But there is a lot of competition within the blogging world, particularly when it comes to Mum bloggers. There are so many blogs out there that it can be pretty difficult for new bloggers to make their mark. So what does it take to be a successful Mum influencer?

For me, my blog has been my main point of contact with my readers since I first launched it. But there are so many other outlets for influencers, and this is something I’m working on a lot at the moment! Many influencers focus their energy on Instagram, where they can share content and get an instant response from their followers. Others focus more on Facebook or Twitter where there are a whole range of Twitter follower apps you can use – take a look at these 25+ Best Twitter Followers Apps (2021). But no matter what platform they use, the competition is fierce!

What does it take to be a successful Mum influencer?

It takes a special kind of someone to make a success of being a Mum influencer.

You need to have a thick skin

The internet is full of people with an opinion, and once you start to gain a decent sized following, you’re going to come up against people who either don’t agree with what you say, or simply decide they don’t like you. That’s a really sad part of the online world, but something you need to be prepared for if you want to be a successful influencer. There are trolls all over the place, and they won’t rest until they hit a nerve. Blocking and deleting or muting these trolls can be a good way to stop them, but the determined ones will keep coming back with new accounts, so it’s something to think about.

You need to have opinions

Successful influencers aren’t afraid to say what’s on their mind. They don’t sit on the fence for fear of upsetting people. Having said that, influencers do need to be a little mindful of what they put out there. There can be a very fine line between having a strong opinion and being offensive!

Keep learning

Technology is constantly evolving, and a successful influencer needs to be able to move with the times. Social media platforms regularly change things so influencers need to constantly stay one step ahead of the game. It’s a good idea to follow other influencers and see how they do things so you have an idea of what works for them and can adapt that for your own posts.

Know what your audience needs

As a Mum influencer, you need to be helping other Mums out. You need to know what they’re searching for and be there to answer those questions. Successful Mum bloggers are constantly creating content that helps out their readers. It’s great to share parts of your own life (people are nosy), but you need to adapt that to make sure you’re helping to solve problems for your followers too.
