Where Should You Go in Europe to Bag a Bargain?
We all know a little too well just how expensive family holidays can be. Even the cheapest of deals can start mounting up into the thousands.
However, family holidays are also those treasured times when you make some of your happiest memories and enjoy lots of love, laughter and relaxation in the sun.
So how do you achieve a family holiday this year but on a budget?
Europe is the ideal place, not only because of its affordability but its short travel distance from the UK (a godsend when you’ve got kids!).

Split, Croatia
This is topping a lot of lists as one of the cheapest and best places to travel in Europe.
Why?
It not only has some of the most idyllic shores in Europe but it’s also home to plenty of history and rustic charm. Therefore, it gives you the best of both worlds and offers you plenty to do to keep the kids (and you) entertained. This is ideal if you like to relax on the beach but need some other activities to do, too.
Take a tour of some of its islands, explore its national parks and dive into its beautiful Mediterranean waters. Split is also much cheaper than a lot of other Mediterranean towns but is no less beautiful or exciting.
Algarve, Portugal
Renowned for its golden sandy beaches, beautiful hidden villages and exquisite food, Portugal is still one of the cheaper places to go for a beach holiday in Europe. And with the Algarve boasting its own little microclimate, you’re almost guaranteed perfect weather throughout the summer months.
Plus, if you want to get a little adventurous, there’s loads to see and do, including jeep tours, surfing, hiking, cycling and scuba diving. Or if you fancy a little road trip, Lisbon is only a 2.5-hour drive away.
Krakow, Poland
Lastly, if beach holidays aren’t your thing or you want to enjoy a city break as well this year, Krakow in Poland is a must-visit. This cultural city is steeped in history, boasts glorious summer weather and is ridiculously cheap.
With apartments costing as little as £40 a night and food and drink being super affordable, you can soon enjoy an all-singing-all-dancing break that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on anything. Plus, if you and the kids enjoy some history, Auschwitz is only an hour away from the city and there are regular buses and tours that take you there.
