3 ways to add a touch of luxury to your bedroom
We’re in the process of saving up to buy a house (hopefully next year), and one of the rooms I’m really looking forward to splurging on is our bedroom. Bedrooms should be a place to unwind, relax and get some well-needed rest ready for the day ahead, so I think if there’s one room to splash out on, it has to be the bedroom.
I’ve been thinking recently about the things I’d like to incorporate into our bedroom in our new house to make it feel a little luxurious. At the moment, our bedroom in our rented house is a little unloved. It’s just somewhere we store our clothes and sleep really. As the children are getting older, I want my bedroom to be a kind of sanctuary where I can shut the rest of the world away and really relax and unwind. There are three things I think will help me to achieve this.
Soft furnishings
I love deep, soft carpets and luxurious throws, so I definitely want to incorporate these into our bedroom. I think deep greys can look really stunning and they somehow make everything look far more expensive than it actually is!
I’d also have some carefully chosen cushions – not too many – but just enough to make the bed somewhere really appealing to take some time out with a good book or take a cheeky mid-afternoon nap! I want the room to be somewhere that draws me in and forces me to take some time out to unwind – something I definitely don’t do enough at the moment.
Luxury Furniture
I keep seeing TV beds, and the more I see them, the more I want one!
If you’re not familiar with them, TV beds are those clever beds with a slim-lined television built into the footboard. They’re designed so that the TV doesn’t have to be on show all the time, an idea that really appeals to me! Don’t get me wrong, I love winding down by watching the TV, but I also love the idea that it can be put out of sight too.
You can get these TV beds in a range of sizes and spec, so whether you’re looking for a simple double bed with TV or something a little more unusual, there’s a surprisingly large range of choices available these days!
I would also love to add a luxurious massage chair. After a stressful day with work and the kids, I can’t imagine any better way to relax and unwind than to spend a quiet half hour enjoying a massage. If this sounds like something you would benefit from, visit humantouch.com where you’ll find some really luxurious massage chairs at great prices.
Colour scheme
Choosing the right colour scheme for a bedroom is crucial. If you choose random colours, you’re unlikely to achieve the finished look you’re hoping for. Colours can really change the overall mood of a room, so for the bedroom you need to think about the effect you’re aiming for.
For me, I think I’m going to be aiming for soft, gentle, light colours, so that the room feels light and airy and not too closed in. I’m really keen on soft greys t the moment, so that will probably be my preference when the time comes. The addition of the soft furnishings will bring the touch of luxury I’m aiming for.
