Dirty Vampire Blood Halloween Mocktail for Kids
I love a fun Halloween drink, especially when it looks like you’ve made loads of effort but it actually takes about five minutes. This Dirty Vampire Blood definitely falls into that category!
It’s sweet, fizzy and cherry flavored, with sweet cream poured over the top to give it that really cool swirly effect. Add some whipped cream, a drizzle of red gel and a pair of plastic vampire teeth and it looks so much fun.
This is a great one to make for a Halloween party, or even just as a fun drink for the kids in the run-up to Halloween. There’s no alcohol in it, it only needs a few ingredients and you can easily make more if you’ve got a crowd.
Why We Love This Recipe
- It’s such a fun drink for Halloween and looks way more impressive than the amount of effort that actually goes into it.
- You only need a handful of ingredients and it takes about 5 minutes to put together.
- The cherry drink and lemon lime soda make it sweet and fizzy, then the cream gives it that really cool swirly “bloody” look.
- It’s completely alcohol-free, so it’s a fun one for kids and Halloween parties.
- You can really go to town with the decorations too. Whipped cream, red gel and vampire teeth make it look extra creepy.
Ingredients
-
Cherry drink mix – This gives the drink its bright red color and sweet cherry flavor. I used Jolly Rancher, but you can use another cherry drink mix if you prefer.
-
Water – You’ll need this to mix up the cherry drink before adding everything else.
-
Lemon lime soda – This adds the fizz and a little extra sweetness. Sprite or 7UP would both work well.
-
Sweet cream coffee creamer – Pour this in right at the end to create that fun swirly effect through the red drink.

Recipe Instructions
Full measurements and cooking times can be found in the recipe card at the bottom of this post.
Step 1: Combine the two drink mix packets and water in a large glass. Stir to mix.

Step 2: Fill two glasses with ice and pour half the cherry drink into each glass.

Step 3: Top with ½ cup of lemon lime soda in each glass.

Step 4: Pour ¼ cup of sweet cream over the top of each drink.

Step 5: Decorate with whipped cream, red gel icing, and plastic vampire teeth or spooky eyes!

What to Serve with Dirty Vampire Blood
This is such a fun drink to serve with all your Halloween party food. I’d keep everything quite easy and snacky, especially if you’re making it for the kids.
-
Halloween cookies – Anything with ghosts, pumpkins, spiders or plenty of sprinkles works!
-
Popcorn – Keep it simple or dress it up with melted chocolate and Halloween candy.
-
Cupcakes – Chocolate or vanilla cupcakes with some spooky frosting would be perfect.
-
Snack mix – A big bowl of sweet and salty Halloween snack mix is always easy to put out.
-
Halloween candy – Honestly, even a bowl of Halloween candy alongside these drinks works just fine.
Storing
This is definitely a drink that’s best made fresh. Once you’ve added the soda and sweet cream, I wouldn’t try to store it as the soda will lose its fizz and the cream will all start to mix together.
If you want to get a little bit ahead, you can mix the cherry drink mix with the water and keep it covered in the fridge. Then when you’re ready to serve, just pour it over ice and add the soda, sweet cream and all the spooky decorations.

Variations & Substitutions
There are loads of little ways you can change this one up depending on what you’ve got in the cupboard. I’d definitely keep it red if you want the vampire blood look, but other than that you can have a bit of fun with it.
-
Change the drink mix – Any red drink mix will work, so you don’t have to use the Jolly Rancher cherry one.
-
Swap the soda – Sprite, 7UP or any lemon lime soda will work here.
-
Try a different creamer – Vanilla coffee creamer would be an easy swap if you can’t find sweet cream.
-
Make it extra creepy – Drizzle more red gel icing around the glass so it looks like blood dripping down the sides.
-
Change the decorations – Vampire teeth, spooky eyes, Halloween straws or whatever else you can find will work.

FAQs
Is Dirty Vampire Blood a nonalcoholic Halloween drink?
Yes! This is completely alcohol-free, making it a fun Halloween drink for kids as well as adults.
Can I make this Halloween mocktail ahead of time?
You can mix the cherry drink mix and water ahead of time and keep it in the fridge. I’d wait until you’re ready to serve before adding the lemon lime soda, sweet cream and decorations.
What can I use instead of cherry drink mix?
Any red drink mix should work. Cherry is perfect for that vampire blood look, but strawberry or fruit punch would be good options too.
What soda is best for a Halloween mocktail?
I like lemon lime soda for this one because it adds plenty of fizz without taking over the cherry flavor. Sprite, 7UP or a similar soda will work.
Can I make this Halloween drink for a party?
Definitely. The recipe makes two drinks, but you can easily increase the quantities if you’re making it for a Halloween party. I’d still assemble each drink just before serving so you get the fizzy, swirly effect.
How can I decorate a vampire Halloween drink?
This is where you can have some fun! Add whipped cream, red gel icing, plastic vampire teeth, spooky candy eyes or Halloween straws. You can also drizzle a little red gel around the rim for an extra bloody look.
Can kids drink Dirty Vampire Blood?
Yes, this is a kid-friendly Halloween drink with no alcohol. Just make sure any plastic decorations, such as vampire teeth, are removed before younger children drink it.
