3 Ways an Outdoor Building can Save you Money
One of the main purposes of My Money Cottage is to save you money. I’m a savvy Mum of three who’s always on the lookout for ways to improve the family finances. Living within your means is the only way to make a success of your finances. Sometimes, we can make big improvements to our situation without spending huge chunks of money.
We would all love to live in a huge house where everyone has their own space. I know I would. Sadly, life’s not always like that. More often than not, families have to put up with the kids sharing bedrooms and limited family space downstairs. The costs of moving house are simply too much for most of us.
If you’ve found yourself stuck in this situation, with teens (and their parents) desperate for more space, then an Outdoor Building would make a huge difference.
Save on the cost of moving house
Moving to a bigger house can sometimes feel like the only way out of living in a cramped environment. But the costs of moving often make that dream an impossibility.
What if you could make a huge difference to the home you already live in? A summerhouse is the perfect solution. Despite their name, summerhouses can actually be used all year round. They come in a range of sizes and can be used for pretty much anything. Summerhouses can be fully equiped with electricity, so that they’re suitable for use in the colder months too.
A summer house could be set up for any number of things:
- A quiet space for the kids to do their homework away from younger siblings.
- An office space.
- A second lounge so there’s always somewhere quiet to go.
- A playroom so that the toys and mess are kept out of the house.
It’s easy to see how an outdoor building can save you money compared to the cost of moving house.
Cut down on entertainment expenses
If you’ve got older children or teenagers in the house, then you’ll know how expensive they can be. They’re always asking for money for trips to the cinema or to meet their friends at McDonalds.
A summerhouse could be used as their own meeting place, saving you a fortune in the long run. Let them invite their friends round for a cheap movie night or even a sleepover. They’ll be the most popular kids in town!
Save on business expenses
If, like me, you work from home, then it can be difficult to find a quiet space to get on with your work. For me, the cost of hiring office space outside of the home, and our lack of a spare room I can call my home office, means that I’m forced to work from the kitchen table.
An outdoor building makes the perfect office space. The lack of commute, low running costs and peace and quiet are a real bonus!
