Losing weight on a budget
I’m sure I’m not alone in having gained weight over the last twelve months. Being stuck at home for weeks on end with all the stresses of having the children home, job insecurities, homeschooling and all the other worries associated with Covid-19 led to comfort eating and not moving enough. Thankfully, it now looks as though we’re going to be able to return to a more normal way of life by the summer, and I really can’t wait! But, I do need to do something about the weight I’ve gained so that I feel fitter and healthier, and feel more confident about myself too.
As with anything I do, I always try to cut the costs if I can. Losing weight can be an expensive business if you’re not careful. There are always diet plans to join that charge a monthly fee, and joining the gym can cost a fortune. Whilst I’m not telling anybody not to do either of these things, I will be trying to lose weight without spending that kind of money.
Setting a weight loss goal
If you’re trying to lose weight, then you might find that setting yourself a weight loss goal helps to motivate you to keep going. You can use an Ideal Weight Calculator to get an idea of what kind of goal weight you should be aiming for. If this feels too daunting, then set yourself smaller goals along the way. For example, if you need to lose four stone, you could set your first target at one stone, and so on. This can make it feel as though you have less of a mountain to climb, making your overall weight loss goal more achievable.
Eating a healthier diet
In my experience, the best way to lose weight is by counting the calories and using an app such as My Fitness Pal to track how many calories you should be consuming each day in order to lose weight.

Cutting down on the amount of junk food you eat and replacing this with healthier options such as fruit is a great place to start, but don’t forget that even fruit has calories!
It’s really easy to work out how many calories you should aim for too by using an online Calorie Counter. This will show you how many calories you should eat in order to either lose or maintain weight.
You may also want to include some supplements in your diet to ensure that your body and your mind are getting all the nutrients they need. This can help you to both feel and look better, which can then in turn help you to stay physically active. Nature’s Happiness offers a great range of supplements to help your body to function at its best.
Move more
It might seem simple, but eating less and moving more is actually half the battle. You don’t need to join an expensive gym or pay for a personal trainer either. Adding an hour of daily walking to your schedule, or doing one of the many free workouts available on YouTube will make a big difference. I’ve never enjoyed exercise when it involves running or following a class, but I do enjoy getting out in the fresh air, so I’m focusing on increasing my daily steps and counting my calories.
Dumbbells are popular for people looking to get in shape due to their versatile nature. People who purchase adjustable dumbbells often also purchase a barbell pad (it complements the barbell workout) to make their workout comfortable. This gives you the option to work out in the comfort of your own home at a time that suits you.
Losing weight can always feel like an uphill struggle, but even just making a few small lifestyle changes can make a huge difference, and you don’t need to spend any money to see real results.
