How to improve the kerb appeal of your business
If you’re a business owner with a premises visited by customers or clients, then you need to spend some time thinking about the kerb appeal of your business. You might think that the only thing that matters to your customers is the quality of the products or services you provide. But first impressions are actually just as important, particularly when it comes to attracting new customers.
Why first impressions count
Whether you run a shop where customers regularly call in, or an office where you hold meetings with clients, those first impressions are really important. Even if you own a business that’s run completely online, you’ll still need to think about what customers see when they land on your website.
With a physical business with premises, you need to make sure that your shop front looks clean, tidy and professional at all times. Customers and passers by will take notice of how professional your business looks. If your premises is run down, untidy and uncared for, then that suggests that the services and the products you sell might also not be up to scratch too. A good first impression can make a big difference to the long term success of your business.
How to improve the kerb appeal of your business

Make it clear what you’re selling
No matter what business you’re in, make it as clear as possible what you’re selling. Professionally made business signs are a great way to do this and are a great way to clearly display the name of your business.
There are also lots of digital sign options available to retailers and these can be a great way to really showcase your top products or current deals.
It’s also a good idea to have some of your products on display. You could do this with a window display, or even have some of your products on the pavement outside. This works really well for businesses such as florists and green grocers.
Display your opening times (and stick to them)
Don’t forget that people pass your premises even after you’ve closed, so it’s a good idea to have your business opening hours clearly on display so that they can return when you open up. Make sure you do stick to your opening hours though, as there’s nothing more frustrating for a customer than turning up to find you’re still closed when you should be open!
Keep the front clean and tidy
You might not think that keeping the pavement clean is your job – that should be down to the local council, right?! But, it’s a good idea to regularly sweep up outside your premises so that the shop front always looks clean and tidy. You should also make sure the windows and doors are cleaned regularly, especially if you’re situated on a busy high street where regular traffic causes a build up of dust and dirt.

Never dismiss how important it is for you to portray a professional image and make sure you dedicate some time to thinking about the kerb appeal of your business. Customers will be drawn in by clean, tidy and professional shop fronts, so be sure to make this a priority for your business.
