Staycation ideas on a budget

When the pandemic put the breaks on international travel, the classic staycation came to the forefront in Britain. Now as a rise in flight prices is declared imminent, the staycation could be here to stay. The good news? There are many benefits to taking a staycation and when done right, it can be just as relaxing and fulfilling as an overseas holiday.

Taking a trip closer to home is extremely convenient for most Brits. There are no language barriers or changes in currency and to top it off, a staycation is usually much more affordable than an international trip, particularly if you stay in a motorhome or a B&B.

Here, we explore some ideas for a staycation on a budget in the UK.

Southport

Whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway or a group trip, Southport has plenty to offer. This classic Victorian town is home to beautiful beaches, gorgeous shopping centres, golf courses, and more so you’re bound to find something to keep you entertained for a few days! Head to a show at one of the theatres or sample some of the delicious local restaurants. And of course, don’t forget to dress for the occasion too.

With a number of motorhome parks in the area, it’s a great spot for a caravan holiday at any time of year. Remember to take out motorhome insurance to ensure you have a stress-free holiday.

Great Yarmouth

Fancy a quintessentially British seaside holiday? Look no further than Great Yarmouth. Known for its long sandy beach, this resort town has plenty to offer anyone in need of a relaxing staycation. Enjoy a walk in the countryside or tuck into some tasty food at the town’s top eateries.

Offering a number of campsites and holiday parks, there are plenty of spots to set up your campervan or caravan for an affordable staycation in Great Yarmouth.

Brighton

When you hear Brighton, you probably think of the iconic beach, but the UK’s favourite seaside resort has plenty of motorhome parks too!

The cost of hotels and restaurant dinners can quickly add up, so consider taking your next trip in a campervan. Not only will you save a bundle on accommodation fees, but you won’t need to worry about transport when your holiday home has its own wheels!

Belfast

It may be small, but Belfast isn’t lacking in things to do and see. Foodies will love trying all the delicious cafes, restaurants, and takeaways the city has to offer. No matter whether you favour Indian cuisine or a full English, you’ll find something to suit your taste. Prefer a night out on the town? Belfast has all your nightlife needs covered with plenty of cosy bars and buzzing nightclubs.

Belfast also has a number of campsites, including those which accept caravans and campervans, making it an ideal spot for an affordable getaway.
