Best Investments UK: 10 Top Industries to Invest Money Into

With society changing so rapidly, there are certainly some trends and industries to watch out for. So, what are some of the best investments UK that we predict? Find out, here…

Right now, the world is seeing more change than it’s seen in a long, long time. Because of this, what was a clear direction in terms of investment predictions may have taken a turn for the better!

With people focusing more and more on their mind, body, and soul, as well as how they will communicate with their friends and family, we’re living in changing times. With these changing times will come a boom in a number of classic investment sectors.

Whether you decide to go for offshore private equity transactions, or something a little closer to home, the choice is yours. But, one of the most important factors when it comes to investment is what sector your go for. Even with little experience you can start learning how to trade cryptocurrency. So, which sectors do we think will be some of the best investments UK has to offer?

Best investments UK

1. Health and Wellbeing

The health and wellbeing sector encompasses a number of different industries, including personal care and beauty, fitness, spa care, and workplace wellness. Right now, the sector is said to be worth $4.2 trillion, but projected growth isn’t stopping anytime soon. In fact, each of these industries is set to grow by an average of around 7 percent every year, until 2022!

With all of these industries, there are a number of different items and selling opportunities that come with it. For example, when it comes to fitness, it’s not just the equipment. Instead, it’s also the personal trainers, the mobile apps, the supplements, and even the fashion that comes with it.

To add to this, with everything going on right now, namely the Coronavirus keeping everyone at home, health and wellness is now bigger than ever. People are walking and running more, and are trying out new fitness regimes, meanwhile, mental health has become of huge importance. So, it’s likely that the sector could grow larger than anyone could have predicted.

2. Mindfulness

Along a similar line, but something that is already booming in itself, is the mindfulness trend. This was already pretty huge, even before COVID-19 took to the stage, but now it’s set to grow even more! But, what exactly is mindfulness?

Mindfulness is the idea of living in the present moment, and consciously working on improving oneself and one’s mental health. This can be achieved through mindful eating, meditation, using your phone less, and even just focusing on your breathing every now and again. Through focusing your mind in this way, and treating your body and mind with respect, you can become more grounded in your day-to-day life.

With such a huge increase in mental health issues over the recent decade, it’s no wonder that this has become such a huge trend. Now, with everyone being cooped up at home, now more than ever is the time people will be becoming more conscious and mindful. So, this is certainly one to watch.

3. New Technologies

Every year, and sometimes even every day, new technologies arise. Some of these are completely arbitrary, and are simply a bit of fun, whilst others might just change the future. Some very important developments, which are taking place right now, include:

  • Self-driving cars
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • Smart Home technology

These are just some of the crazy new things we can expect in our future. With such change on the horizon, and more and more people hopping on the bandwagon, investment in these technologies could be a smart move.

4. Cyber Security

With all these new technologies, the general public are becoming more and more conscious that their personal information is out there. What with Smart Homes, AI, and social media becoming ever more present in our lives, so too are our concerns. Some even say that these are the first steps to allowing more malicious internet hackers into our lives.

Again, our current social situation means cyber security is becoming so much more important. Internet scams are popping up left, right, and centre, and many business owners believe that now is the time they’ll be hacked. This puts so many peoples’ personal information and data at risk, and people are frightened by this.

With all this in mind, efforts to support people and businesses through these threats are in motion. This will come through encouraging people with the skills for it to enter the world of cyber protection. It’ll also mean more apps and installations on our PCs should become more and more sought after.

5. Sustainability

Sustainability has become the trend of the decade, and we don’t think 2020 will see a drop in this anytime soon. For the fashion and beauty industries, in particular, sustainability is certainly looking to become the next trend.

Over the last few years, beauty and fashion brands have looked to cut animal cruelty and plastic use. Couple this with shows, like Blue Planet, we have seen the first-hand effects of what our choices cause. Through giving the general public a greater choice of products – including the choice to choose sustainable – we’re providing agency to all.

Because of all this, sustainable initiatives within the world of fashion are now absolutely booming. Charity shops are becoming used more often, and second-hand apps, like Depop, are seeing growth. Now, it’s not just the small few who can access beauty products that are plastic-free; everyone can!

That’s not all though as, on a bigger scale, more farmers are diversifying into the world of sustainability also. In fact, between 2010 and 2019, the use of fossil fuels fell by around 35 percent!

Clearly, larger organisations and companies are starting to really make headway in providing greener energy across the globe. By selling their land for the use of wind farms, solar farms, and everything in between, these amazing changes have completely altered the energy world. With calls for sustainability still well underway, and climate strikes being performed across the world, it’s unlikely that these changes to our society will stop any time soon.

6. Healthcare

It seems that the coronavirus is exacerbating all our predictions for the future, including the growth in the healthcare sector. What was a $8.45 trillion industry in 2018 is set to reach the $10 trillion mark by 2020!

Most notably, the fertility sector is predicted to boom, with new options for conceiving babies emerging. With increases in amazing technology have come major breakthroughs in recent years. For example, human eggs have now been grown in a laboratory, amongst other interesting new developments.

7. Property

With everything going on right now, the property industry might not be the most smart investment. That said, once the “new normal” everyone keeps talking about comes into play, people will be diving back into the world of property.

Whether it be Airbnbs, or student housing, this industry has always yielded high returns. But, the industry really is set to boom when we’re allowed to leave our homes once more.

8. Dietary Alternatives

Ever since the rise of veganism really took the world by storm, new products have been introduced all over the place. From vegan cookbooks to milk alternatives, to vegan burgers which mimic meat or are made from beans and vegetables to vegan menus in restaurants. The list really does go on.

Not least is a vegan diet a much more sustainable choice than any other diet, it’s also proven to be really great for your health. Many people even choose a diet like this for weight loss purposes! Considering the popularity and growth of this sector, some predictions for 2020 and onwards include:

  • More plant-based meats, including “real” chicken and fish products
  • The consumption of insects
  • Developments in vegan cheeses, and other dairy products

9. Communication

Mobile phones have always been something worth investing in; with consumers constantly craving new developments, the industry is consistently booming. This is certainly worth looking into.

That said, something which we could never have predicted, until now, is the boom in video calling software. Right now, technology is the only way we can really communicate with our loved ones and colleagues. What once was a world of hugs and human contact has now become a world of pub quizzes and virtual meetings.

With all this in mind, the communication industry has never been more sought after. Zoom is a perfect example of this, having grown from 10 million daily participants in December to 300 million now!

Even after all this, our new-found love of connecting virtually with family and friends – something we never used to do before – has become part of us. So, once all this is over, perhaps video calling will be our new form of communication?

10. Recruitment

Finally, the recruitment industry has always been on the list of industries worth keeping an eye on; even more so now. What was predicted to be a 4.5 percent increase from 2019 to 2020, and a five percent increase from 2020 to 2021 may look even greater now…

With so many individuals unfortunately being made redundant, or on furlough right now, the job hunt is well and truly on. Every day, LinkedIn feeds are inundated with people searching for their next job role, and recruiters are busier than ever before. Especially when the furlough scheme ends, supposedly in October 2020, perhaps we’ll see a huge boom at the end of the year.
