Budget-Friendly Granola Berry Cups: A Fun & Healthy Snack for the Whole Family

When I’m trying to keep our grocery bill down, snacks can be one of those sneaky little things that add up fast. The kids always seem to be hungry (especially right after I just cleaned the kitchen – why is that?), and it’s so tempting to just grab pre-packaged stuff. But I’ve been trying to make more of our snacks at home lately, and these Granola Berry Cups have been a hit with everyone.

They’re simple, budget-friendly, and honestly kinda fun to make too. I usually mix up a big batch of granola on the weekend, and then it’s easy to throw these together during the week when we need a quick snack or even a light breakfast. Plus, they’re so cute! The kids love helping press the granola into the muffin tin and picking out which berries to use. We don’t always have the same fruit on hand, but that’s the nice part – you can really use whatever’s in the fridge.

I also love that these feel a little special without costing a ton. A little yogurt, a handful of berries, and some homemade granola go a long way. And hey, if we can avoid a mid-week snack run and save a few bucks, I’m calling that a win.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup rolled oats – These are the base of the granola cups and give them that perfect hearty crunch.

  • 1 banana – Mashed banana helps bind everything together and adds natural sweetness, which I love.

  • 1 cup yogurt of your choice – Use whatever yogurt your family likes – Greek, vanilla, or even dairy-free all work great.

  • ¼ cup raw honey – Just enough to sweeten things up and help the oats stick together without going overboard.

  • Strawberries, for serving – We slice them up fresh and let the kids pile them on top – it’s their favorite part.

  • Blueberries, for serving – These little bursts of flavor are so good with the creamy yogurt and crunchy granola.

Recipe Instructions

You can find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

1. In a medium bowl, mash the banana until smooth.

2. Stir in the oats and honey, mixing until well combined.

3. Spoon the mixture into a muffin pan, dividing it evenly among 6 cups. Press the mixture into the edges and bottom to form a cup shape.

4. Freeze the muffin tray for 30 minutes to set.

5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the cups for 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let them cool for 10 minutes.

6. Top each cup with yogurt and fresh berries, then serve immediately.

Top Tips

Use silicone muffin cups – These make it way easier to pop the granola cups out without breaking them. If you’re using a regular tin, give it a good spray or line with parchment.

Ripe bananas are best – The riper the banana, the sweeter and easier it is to mash (plus, it’s a great way to use up those spotty ones!).

Let them cool completely – After baking, let the granola cups cool in the tin for at least 10–15 minutes so they firm up nicely and don’t fall apart.

Switch up the fruit – No strawberries or blueberries? Try raspberries, kiwi, or whatever’s in season (or on sale!).

Make ahead & chill – These store well in the fridge for a couple days, so you can prep them ahead for easy grab-and-go snacks or breakfast.

Taste your mixture – Before baking, give the granola mix a little taste. You can always add a pinch of cinnamon, vanilla, or even some chopped nuts if you’re feeling fancy.

Perfect Pairings and Serving Ideas

Morning coffee + granola cup = happy mom – I love grabbing one (or two) of these with my morning coffee. It feels like a little treat, but still wholesome.

Serve with a smoothie – Pair a granola cup with a quick fruit smoothie for a filling, no-fuss breakfast the kids actually get excited about.

Turn it into a build-your-own bar – Set out yogurt, fruit, and toppings like shredded coconut, mini chocolate chips, or chia seeds and let everyone make their own creation.

Make it a mini brunch moment – These are super cute on a brunch board alongside hard-boiled eggs, sliced fruit, and mini muffins.

Pack it for snack time – If you’re heading out, just pop one in a container (with a cold pack if it has yogurt!) and you’ve got a nutritious, mom-approved snack ready to go.

Dress them up for a special treat – Drizzle a little melted dark chocolate on top or sprinkle with granola for an extra bit of crunch.
