Finding love this Christmas

Finding love this Christmas

It seems like a lifetime ago since you could just go out for the evening and get chatting to somebody you’d never met before. This year has dragged on forever! The way we socialise with people has changed and become unrecognisable from how it was before Covid-19. For many of those people living alone who had been thinking about meeting somebody new before the pandemic hit, it has been an incredibly lonely time. If you fall into that category,  you might be wondering whether you just need to ride things out and wait until life gets back to normal before you start dating again. But don’t despair, there are ways you can still meet people, even in the run up to Christmas during a pandemic.

Join a dating website

Online dating has been getting more and more popular over the last few years and it’s still a great way to get to know people. Many dating websites are free to join and they’re a great way to start to get to know new people.

Opt for a local dating site

In the past, dating websites tended to be national affairs and you could find yourself talking to somebody who lives hundreds of miles away. These days, there are far more options available. You can choose to join a local dating site such as one for Manchester dating. This is a great way to start talking to people who you could potentially meet up with once the rules and regulations allow. Long distance relationships can work of course, but they are far tougher than dating somebody who lives close by.

Go on a FaceTime date

I don’t know about you but we have used FaceTime a lot to stay in touch with family and friends this year. It has been an absolute godsend for us! You could easily use FaceTime to go on a virtual date! In some ways, I would say that a FaceTime date could actually be better than the real thing. Think back to those awkward dates you’ve had where you just didn’t hit it off and you couldn’t wait for the evening to end. With a FaceTime date, it’s far, far easy to politely end the date and carry on with your evening!

Arrange a socially distanced date

The rules are forever changing, but at the moment, so be sure you know what you are and aren’t allowed to do before you arrange a socially distanced date. But you could arrange a date where you meet for a socially distanced walk in the park or at a local beauty spot. Being out in the fresh air can help to make those first meetings feel far less awkward as your changing surroundings give you things to talk about and any quiet moments aren’t as obvious as they would be if you were to meet in a restaurant. It’s also a lovely way to spend an afternoon during the Winter months.

Christmas walk

It is absolutely possible to find love during the pandemic this Christmas. In fact, in some ways it’s far less stressful than it was before! Just spend a little time chatting to new people online and you never know where it could lead!
