Travelling all over the world is often one of the perks of owning your own business, or even working for a successful business. Having the opportunity to leave the four walls of the office behind and experience different cities can be incredible. Top that off with travelling business class or even flying by private jet with companies such as Chapman Freeborn, and it’s easy to see why so many men and women enjoy business travel. If you are lucky enough to travel for business, there are some cities that you’re far more likely to visit than others.

It’s only natural that some cities are visited far more often than others for people travelling for business purposes. Some cities are geared up specifically for certain markets – financial services and technology for example.

I’ve picked out five cities from around the world that are popular destinations for business travellers.

New York

The big apple is home to huge, global companies – almost every worldwide company has some kind of presence in New York. You need to have a hefty budget to visit though. According to Business Traveller, it costs an average of £611 per day to travel to New York on business! Hotels and transport companies can get away with charging high prices because of the sheer demand on their services.

Frankfurt

Frankfurt has one of the largest airports in Europe, making it a popular choice for aviation businesses. As a city, Frankfurt is pretty much tailor made for the corporate traveller, and most people who travel for business will visit here at some point. Frankfurt is also home to the European Central bank, making it a city of huge importance to financial services businesses throughout Europe.

Hong Kong is one of the world’s leading business destinations, with most large, global brands holding some kind of stake here. Leading businesses are the financial services and tourism. Hong Kong is widely appreciated for it’s low taxes and liberal trading laws, making it a popular destination for business travellers from all around the world.

London

London is widely referred to as the financial capital of Europe – filled with investment banks and international firms. London is home to global businesses taking advantage of the strong business culture and the ease to get there from all over the world. Couple that with  fantastic transport links and it’s easy to see why London is such a popular destination for those heading off on business travel.

San Francisco

San Francisco

As well as being a popular tourist destination, San Francisco is also a thriving business city. Home to household names such as Twitter and Google, who both have offices here, it’s easy to see why it’s a popular choice with business travellers from all around the globe.
