How AESUB Sprays Can Make 3D Scanning Easier

3D scanning technology has never been more accurate than it is today. But there may still be situations when your expensive 3D scanner will find it difficult creating an accurate model of the object in front of it.

3D scanners can be disrupted by reflective surfaces, dark colours and unusual shapes, patterns and contours on the surface of the item being scanned. This leaves you with inaccurate data and an incomplete 3D scan.

That’s never ideal. Luckily, there are sprays that make 3D scanning much easier to complete. 3D scanning sprays get rid of those disruptive surfaces, giving you the conditions necessary to collect the data you need for your project.

While there are lots of 3D scanning sprays on the market, it’s the AESUB sprays that offer the best results. Here’s how AESUB sprays make your 3D scanning easier.

What Are AESUB Scanning Sprays Used For?

AESUB is a German company that focuses almost exclusively on designing and manufacturing scanning sprays to make 3D scanning easier. Their sprays are truly specialised and designed to be an efficient and cost-effective solution to a problem that 3D scanners face on a regular basis.

What is this problem? 3D scanning uses optical technology to collect data (to scan an object and allow for an accurate 3D model to be created on a computer). Different surfaces and surface conditions can disrupt the light however, because to collect accurate data, light sent from the scanner needs to be reflected back.

Dark colours absorb the light, while reflective or shiny surfaces reflect back inaccurate data. Transparent surfaces don’t send back any light at all. To counter this problem, objects or parts that can’t be scanned accurately can be coated with 3D scanning spray, such as the sprays produced by AESUB.

This coating creates a surface that becomes homogenous, is no longer transparent, or is the right colour to be picked up accurately by the scanner. Even the most up-to-date and modern of 3D scanners encounter this issue, so it’s important to have a ready solution (and a ready supply of 3D scanning spray).

The Advantages of AESUB Scanning Sprays

The idea behind 3D scanning sprays isn’t exactly new, but AESUB sprays have made the solution to the problem much more effective.

The spray creates a smooth surface that can be picked up easily up by the scanner, but this isn’t all they do. AESUB sprays are designed to be only semi-permanent, they’re non-toxic and they’re very easy to use.

AESUB produces several different types of spray. The two main sprays are AESUB Blue and AESUB White, but other colours are scheduled for release too, including green, orange and yellow. Different colours have different properties and are better suited to different scanning projects, but they all work in much the same way.

Let’s take a look at the major properties of blue and white AESUB sprays:

AESUB Blue

AESUB Blue is state of the art, and that’s down to the fact that the spray disappears naturally. Once applied, the blue spray will remain on the object for no longer than four hours, while providing an even coating of 8-15 µm.

Spray your objects to provide them with a smooth, thin coating that doesn’t create any added clumps or bumps, but that helps the scanner to form an incredibly accurate picture. The spray then sublimates (turns to vapour), leaving no traces behind it. There’s zero cleaning involved, no scrubbing and absolutely no washing required.

It’s designed to be used with reference points in mind, and it’s easy to attach scanning markers to the coating for added accuracy. Again, these are easy to remove, as the spray sublimates.

This semi-permanent spray is perfect for quick scanning projects, and it works best on either reflective or transparent components.

AESUB White

AESUB White is the white version of the scanning spray, but the colour isn’t the only difference. AESUB White doesn’t sublimate like AESUB Blue, as it’s designed for scanning projects that require a coating to remain for a longer period of time.

Once applied, AESUB White will stay on semi-permanently until it’s cleaned off. However, it’s easy to clean, requiring just a cloth and some water for it to smoothly wipe off the object.

If your scanning project could take a few days (or longer), then AESUB White means you don’t need to waste spray by constantly reapplying it, and it leaves no marks behind when it’s eventually cleaned off.

AESUB sprays, whether blue, white, green, yellow or orange, all offer a tested scanning spray that’s designed to make your projects easier. Easy to use, easy to spray and easy to remove, these are the 3D scanning sprays you’ve been looking for.
