How to make the most of your trip to Egypt

A trip to Egypt is likely to be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, so it’s important that you plan ahead in order to make the most of your time there. From thinking about where you want to stay, to planning your daily activities, a bit of forward planning will ensure that you don’t come back home feeling as though you missed out. There is so much to see and do in Egypt that you’re sure to have a fantastic time there.

Research the best place to stay

Your hotel can make or break your stay so it’s always important to spend some time doing your research. I always look up hotel reviews on sites such as Tripadvisor before I book a hotel. This will give you a real feel for what the hotel is like. You can get a real feel for the hotel by reading reviews from genuine guests rather than just making a judgement from the photographs. Check in particular for comments about the quality of the food, the cleanliness of the rooms and how easy it is to travel around the area from the hotel.

Plan your itinerary

Spend some time working out where you want to visit before you travel, and plan out an itinerary so you fit everything in during your trip.

Egypt is a country with a rich history and lots of beautiful sights to see, but you’ll need to prioritise and work out which trips you can fit in whilst you’re there. Make sure you set a budget before you travel too. Here are just some of the places you could visit:

Use a reputable tour company

A good tour company can make a huge difference to your holiday to Egypt. With so much to see and do, it can be a little overwhelming trying to plan trips, especially if you’ve never visited Egypt before. Take some time to look into the tour operators that arrange trips from the area you plan to stay, as they will be best placed to give you advice on which trips would fit in with your visit. For example, there are lots of different excursions available if you’re staying in Hurghada including sea trips, wellness excursions, and safari trips.

Research the local customs

Wherever you plan to travel, it’s important to be respectful of local traditions and culture. Although there isn’t a strict dress code for tourists in Egypt, you might want to be mindful of their customs and pack accordingly. For me, the locals tend to dress smartly and generally don’t wear jeans. Women will usually be covered from their shoulders to their ankles. As the temperature is usually quite high in Egypt, pack loose-fitting, breathable clothes.

It’s also a good idea to learn a little of the language if you can too. Just a few simple phrases will go a long way.
