I’ve been blogging “properly” for around 18 months and I absolutely love it. Initially, I started blogging as a bit of a hobby around 8 years ago, but over the last 18 months I’ve actually been blogging with a view to earn an income. If you’re thinking of starting a blog yourself, but you’re not sure how you would actually make money from blogging, then check out this post about how to make money blogging.
One way that bloggers make money, is through affiliate marketing. Affiliate marketing simply means that you make a commission when somebody clicks through a link you’ve shared. Many companies offer affiliate programs, where you can sign up and promote their products for them. Amazon is a great example. Once you’ve signed up to the affiliate program, you can simply click a link at the top of any page to get your unique affiliate link. Then, once somebody clicks through and buys a product using your unique link, you’ll automatically receive a commission.
How to Smash Affiliate Marketing as a UK Blogger
Blogging can be big business, and as somebody who thrives on making extra money, it’s something I’ve been really passionate about over the last few months. One of the areas I’ve been really keen to improve on is affiliate marketing. Until recently, the only courses available to bloggers wanting to learn more about affiliate marketing were written by American bloggers. Now the Americans really are miles ahead of us, and there are bloggers in America earning hundreds of thousands of dollars every year through affiliate marketing! However, lots of the advice in their courses isn’t applicable to UK bloggers.
When I heard that Emma Drew was launching a new course, I was really excited. Just in case you haven’t heard of her, Emma Drew is a UK blogger who is absolutely rocking it. Emma has been blogging full-time for a couple of years and has recently hit a six-figure income from her blog. A substantial part of that income comes from affiliate marketing, so Emma really knows her stuff!
This course is primarily video-based, which absolutely suits me down to the ground. I find I soak up so much more information when I watch a video than I do when I read content. What’s really great about this though is that each section also includes a write-up. So if you do miss a point, you don’t need to re-play the whole video in order to find it again.
The course itself is broken down into 9 main sections, with each section broken down into smaller sub-sections.
- Getting started
- Affiliate Marketing Disclosure
- How to find affiliate programs
- How to serve your audience and get them to buy from your affiliate links
- Different ways to advertise your affiliate links
- The money is in the list
- Tools that have supercharged my affiliate earnings
- Other important information about affiliate marketing
- Creating your affiliate marketing strategy
Each sub-section contains a short video sharing lots of in-depth tips to help you to make more money from affiliate links.
You can pick and choose what order you do the modules, but I’ve found that they’re ordered in a way that makes sense to work through chronologically.
Will it boost your income?
The whole purpose of the course is to help you to boost your income from affiliate marketing. But does it work? I will say that I’m still implementing some of the ideas from the course, and I will be for a long time yet. It’s packed full of suggestions and it is a long-term strategy. I have definitely seen an impact though. My affiliate income has DEFINITELY increased since taking the course, and I’ve more than got my money back.
How to Smash Affiliate Marketing will help you to develop your own affiliate marketing strategy. Emma talks you through strategies she’s tried that have failed, and shares the things that have worked for her.
How much money can you make from affiliate marketing?
This is the million dollar question! The potential earnings from affiliate marketing are infinite. Once you’ve nailed it, you’ve nailed it! As with anything, the more time and effort you put into it, the more money you will make. Emma has shared that she’s currently earning over £5,000 CONSISTENTLY every month.
