I can hardly believe it’s that time of year again. Christmas seems to creep up faster every year! Although Christmas is a magical time of year, it can actually be incredibly stressful time too if we’re not careful. Thinking of gifts for everybody can be tough, as can finding suitable gifts that fit in with our budget. I’ve put together this ultimate Christmas gift guide 2018 to hopefully give you some ideas for gifts for the whole family.
As the children are getting older, it’s getting harder and harder to come up with gift ideas, particularly for our 12 year old. If we ask him what he wants, then it’s either a game for the xbox or money – in all honesty I’m not keen on either of those ideas! Thankfully, I’ve managed to come up with some great gifts for everyone (including the tween).
If you’re a regular reader, then you’ll know that there are five of us in our family – we have one daughter aged 9 and two boys aged 12 and 3. The gifts I’m sharing with you here are things I’ve found for our own family. So if you’ve got a child in any of those age ranges, then hopefully there’ll be something here for you!
Gifts for tweens
Tweens are notoriously difficult to buy for, and that’s definitely the case in our house. Our 12 year old doesn’t have a clue what he wants this year, but fortunately for him we’ve been able to come up with some great gift ideas.
Tipped to be one of the top selling toys this year, Fortnite Monopoly is a must buy for any Fortnite fan! We were lucky enough to find this reduced on Groupon, so it’s worth checking there for a good price.
If your tween loves their music, then how about this Stormtrooper bluetooth speaker? We often find that it’s gadgets like this that go down really well with our son, so if you have a Star Wars music fan, then this could be the perfect gift!
Gifts for 7-9 year olds
Our 9 year old has actually been really easy to buy for this year. She is absolutely obsessed with Harry Potter, so anything Harry Potter themed is a winner. There’s so much of it around too! I’m sharing some of the gifts we’re buying for her, along with some other really fab gift ideas too.
When I saw this Harry Potter Trivial Pursuit game, I had to grab it for her. She should win this every single time, I don’t think there’s a fact or quote she doesn’t know!
How about something unicorn themed? Unicorns are EVERYWHERE at the moment. I love this “Don’t blame me, blame it on the unicorn” mug from FairySpecs!
If you have an inquisitive child, then the Detective Dot Mega Pack would be perfect. This pack is a personalised gift, featuring a coding adventure which covers the core curriculum concept. Detective Dot book plus personalised membership to the Children’s Intelligence Agency. Loved by teachers, parents + kids around the world!
If you’re a family that loves getting together to play games, then this Dodgy Dogs card game would be perfect for you. It’s a family-friendly game for up to 5 players and it’s great fun for all ages!
Or, how about an animation kit to get your kids creative juices flowing? We have this Zu3D Complete Stop Motion Animation Software Kit and it’s so much fun. The children can create fantastic animation!
Gifts for 3-5 year olds
We have a 3 year old, but he’ll be 4 in the early Spring, so some of the gifts we’re choosing for him may not be suitable for younger 3 year olds. I’d also point out that he’s a typical boy, into cars, action heroes and rude noises (hence the first gift idea)!
Now I’m in the latter half of my 30s, so maybe I’m getting old, but what is this obsession these days with farts and poo??? I don’t get it! Nevertheless, my youngest little angel thinks trumps are hilarious, and so I know he’s going to love this Fartest Club toy.
Or, if you prefer the more traditional cuddly toy gift, then how about a personalised teddy bear from GiftPup?
Gifts for Mum
As a working Mum of 3, I often find that I don’t have time to treat myself and I do tend to neglect myself a little bit! So, these gifts would be perfect treats for me.
My skin is always really dry and normal moisturisers just don’t cut the mustard! I’ve found that the O’Keeffe’s Working Hands hand cream works really well though. So, this gift set would make the perfect gift for me this Christmas.
If all else fails, I always love receiving Yankee Candle gifts. I’ve always got a Yankee Candle burning at home and I love receiving new ones. This gift set would be perfect for me.
Gifts for Dad
If your other half is a gadget geek like mine, then it can be expensive trying to keep them happy at Christmas!
How about this NextBase 112 Dash Cam? Both practical and fitting for a gadget lover, it’s really compact yet incredibly high quality too.
Or, how about a new wallet? My husband ALWAYS seems to need a new wallet, I’m not sure what he does with them! This wallet from Dobell would make a perfect gift.
For the man who loves his music, this Portable Wireless Waterproof Speaker with Extra Bass would make a fab gift.
I hope these gift ideas have been useful, it’s sometimes hard to come up with gift ideas! It’s important to remember though that Christmas should be all about spending time with the people we care about. It’s lovely to give and receive gifts, but make sure you enjoy the magic of being with the ones you love too.
