My Top Ten Christmas Songs

The countdown to the big day well and truly begins for us the day we put the tree up. It’s always chaotic, carting all the boxes down from the loft and sifting through everything cooing over the good stuff and wondering why we’ve still kept hold of the crap.

I always stick the Christmas CD on to get us all in the festive mood whilst we fight with the tree. There are some songs that really do summarise Christmas for me. The minute I hear them I’m catapulted back to my childhood and remembering all the Christmases since. They’re timeless, classic and somehow magical.

So, I thought I’d dedicate a post to my top ten, the ones that make me go all goose-bumpy and nostalgic.

1. Wizard – I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.
2. Shakin’ Stevens – Merry Christmas Everyone.
3. Mariah Carey – All I Want For Christmas Is You.
4. Jackson Five – Santa Claus is Coming to Town.
5. Wham – Last Christmas.
6. Elton John – Step Into Christmas.
7. Dean Martin – Baby It’s Cold Outside.
8. Slade – Merry Christmas Everybody.
9. Mel & Kim – Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.
10. Frank Sinatra – Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

I think these are all classics, they just don’t make them like this anymore!
