What Motivates You?

I’m taking it as a given that you would like to earn more money or save money, that’s pretty much why My Money Cottage was set up, to help others achieve their money-making goals. Once you’ve got started with the various different ways of making extra cash though, it can be easy to lose your money-making mojo. I think it’s important at times like these to remember what motivates you.

So, what’s your motivation?

Motivations

Children

I really want our three children to grow up in a secure environment. To me, this means financial security as well as emotional security. I don’t want them to miss out on things because we can’t afford them. I don’t mean frivolous things, I mean being able to afford to pay for school trips, replacing shoes when needed rather than having to wait until pay day, going out for a treat, having a nice Christmas etc. It’s also important to me that my children grow up understanding the value of money. Both myself and my husband work hard and our children understand that you have to work to be able to afford nice things.

Buying a house

We are in a complicated situation at the moment that I’d like us to get out of in the next five years. We became accidental landlords about 5 years ago as we outgrew our home and weren’t in a position to buy a bigger one. We now rent the house we live in and still rent out the property we own. We’re relatively happy with our lot, but in the long run I’d love us to be able to sell that little house and buy somewhere big enough for the five of us. This means saving and budgeting as well as overpaying the mortgage when we can.

Holidays

For us, a holiday is pretty low down on our list of priorities at the moment. However, lots of people do use their online earnings to fund fantastic trips! I’ve recently been reading about a really inspiring lady who makes enough to fund trips to DisneyLand in Florida purely through what she earns online, that’s pretty impressive!

Paying off the debts

This has to be a big motivation. If you’ve got any debts accruing interest then it’s really beneficial to get it paid off as soon as you can. Online earning can have a massive impact on getting these debts paid off.

So, when you’re having a “can’t be bothered” day, remember why you started this in the first place, pull your finger out and get back on it!
