I’ve written before about saving for Christmas. It’s important to plan ahead if you can, Christmas can be a huge expense and if we’re not careful it can catch us by the short and curlies, meaning we turn to credit cards and loans to cover the cost.
There are many ways you can plan ahead for Christmas. You need to find a way that works for you.
You may have already joined in with our Christmas Savings challenge. If not, you can read more about that here – http://mymoneycottage.com/1p-challenge-christmas-2017/. I’ve now got an active thread in the Facebook group where we can keep each other encouraged throughout the year with this challenge – you can join in here – https://www.facebook.com/groups/255328071561681/.
There are lots of other effective ways to save money though too. A couple of years ago, I joined the ASDA Christmas Savings Club and found this a great way to save cash for food and presents for Christmas. You can pick up a card in store.
Then, you’ll need to register your card online, which you can do here. Once you’ve registered, you simply add a little money to your card as and when you can afford to. Depending on how much you save, Asda will top your card up with a bonus:
- Saving up to £49 means a bonus of £1
- Saving up to £97 means a bonus of £3
- Saving up to £144 means a bonus of £6
Each card can hold a maximum of £150 but there’s no limit on how many cards you can have.
Bonuses will be added to cards towards the end of November and then you’re free to spend your cash in store.
What happens if you lose your card?
Don’t worry, as long as you registered online via the link above, your cash is perfectly safe. I’m forever losing cards in the bottom of my bag never to be seen again, so this is a huge plus.
