Top Tips for Monetising Your Blog
For many people, blogging is a labour of love, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you can’t make a few pennies out of it or even turn it into a full-time job. I have teamed up with a web development agency in Hertfordshire to share some advice and tips on how this can be done.
Increase Your Domain Authority
Your domain authority basically provides an insight into how your website is performing in the Google Search Engine Results Page. It is a score ranging between 1 and 100 and the higher your score, the more likely you are to attract potential brands to collaborate with. Here are some ways to increase your score:
- Try to build up your backlink profile by acquiring links from high authority websites
- Ensure your blog works well on mobile
- Ensure your blog loads at a decent speed
- Share your articles on social media
Incorporate Ads onto Your Website
This is only likely to work well if you have thousands of readers per day, but even so, it’s worth incorporating PPC ads onto your website to help you generate an income. Every time one of your readers clicks on an ad that’s placed on your blog, you will make a little bit of money and, as the saying goes, every little helps.
Share Sponsored Posts
Lots of companies will be willing to sponsor you to include a link to their website in your article, especially if you have a decent domain authority and lots of traffic. If you have gained enough traction, these companies might contact you first, but there’s nothing wrong with trying your luck and reaching out to some brands you’re passionate about with a pitch.
Leverage Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is essentially an agreement that you, as a blogger, have with a company in which you endorse their products or services on your website and social media. This agreement will be unique to the type of company, but it might be that they offer you your very own discount code that you share with your readers, and every time that code is used, you earn a percentage of the sale. Alternatively, they might pay you an upfront fee to share one blog post and a set number of Instagram images.
So, as you can see, there are various options when it comes to monetising your blog. Combining all of them will likely lead to results that you can be proud of! However, bear in mind that it will take time. Don’t give up!
