Choosing a host is one of the most important things you will ever do for your blog. I’ve used three different hosts for My Money Cottage since I first started blogging, and Lyrical Host have been by far the best.

If you’re a regular reader of mine, you’ll know that blogging has quickly become my biggest source of income. I work part-time from home in my actual day job as well as looking after my three children. But my blogging income has overtaken my job income and that’s one of the reasons I’m really protective over my blog!

Why choose Lyrical Host

I’ll be the first to admit that I was pretty happy with Siteground the vast majority of the time and I used them for two years. But when it came to sorting any issues out, it could be tricky. Their live chat were usually really helpful, but they would only talk me through things so much, and then they’d want to charge for doing so.

With Lyrical Host, they do pretty much everything for you.

My renewal was due with Siteground (be aware that they automatically take the money 30 days in advance unless you cancel auto-renewals), and they wanted almost £250 for hosting. When you break it down into monthly amounts, that doesn’t seem too unreasonable. But couple this with being landed with a huge tax bill, and I knew it was time to seek out a monthly payment option!

Lyrical Host allow you to pay monthly, which is one of the big pulls for me at the moment. This option is rolling too, so you’re not tied in to any longer than a month.

As well as the flexibility with payment, Lyrical Host have been fantastic from a customer service point of view too.

I have 11 wordpress sites at the moment that I wanted moving from Siteground over to Lyrical Host. Because this was a bit of a bigger job than just moving one site, Lyrical Host asked me to contact them to arrange migration slots.  They booked all the sites into three migration slots and moved them all over for me – free of charge. Now this isn’t a small job and the whole process takes a good few hours, so doing this free is pretty fantastic.

Lyrical Host was actually set up by a fellow blogger. Jenni Brown has been blogging herself since 2001, so she knows exactly what kind of service bloggers want (and need). This was a big attraction for me, as I had kind of felt like a little fish in a big pond with Siteground (and GoDaddy before them who I really wouldn’t recommend). But right from the very beginning, I’ve felt like my sites actually matter with Lyrical Host.

Once they’ve moved your site(s) over, they then send you over a list of any recommended actions – plugins that are no longer recommended/need updating and other security issues they may have spotted.

With my migrations, they were still working until almost midnight, this goes to show how dedicated they are at getting things up and running for you. And in case you didn’t spot me mentioning it before – migration is completely free of charge.
