If you’re reading this then the chances are that you’ve decided that you need to start making some more money. Any extra money you can earn has to be a bonus, but just imagine what a difference an extra £100 per day, every day could make to your life. If you put in the time and you’re savvy about what you do, then that kind of extra income really is achievable. So grab a coffee, or a glass of wine and I’ll talk you through how to make £100 a day.

An extra £100 a day equates to an extra £36,500 per year. That’s more than some people earn from their job alone. There are lots of different things you can do to make that kind of money. The key is to know what you’re doing, know where to look, and know what to avoid.

How to Make £100 a Day Online

Whether you need the extra cash for something specific, or you just desperately need to earn more money in order to be able to afford to pay the bills, it is definitely possible to make £100 a day. It might take you a little while to build up to £100 per day, but if you’ve got the determination to do it, then it’s definitely possible. I know it’s possible because I do it myself!

I’ve talked before about how I’ve worked from home since 2009 when I had my middle child. When I was pregnant with her, both myself and my husband were made redundant. It’s not like we worked for the same company either, it was just bad luck. I was pregnant and Christmas was around the corner, times were really hard. At that point, I decided I would never rely on one job ever again, and I’ve never looked back.

Since 2009, I’ve been self-employed in various roles and I also had a part-time job as a Proofreader working from home 32 hours per week too. In April 2022, I handed in my notice as my side hustles were earning me far more money than my employed job. Whilst I won’t say it’s been easy, I have consistently made more money than my job month on month since then.

So, here are my tips for how to make £100 a day based on my own personal experiences and talking to others who do just that.

Start a Blog

I can honestly say that starting this blog changed my life in ways I never would have thought possible. I now run a number of blogs as my full-time job. It means I’m there for my kids, I can work when I like, and as a migraine sufferer, I don’t need to worry about sick days and letting my employer down.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that blogging is a quick and easy way to make money, but once you get yourself established, you can easily make £100 a day.

Bloggers make money in a few different ways:

• Affiliate marketing
• Sponsored content
• Ad revenue from display ads
• Hosting guest content

Bloggers will all have their own biggest earners but the goal for most bloggers is to earn a passive income from ad revenue. This means that whenever someone visits a blog post and clicks on an advert, you will earn money from that.

The sky is the limit with blogging income, what started off as a spare time hobby for me has now become a full-time income, but it takes time to get to that point.

Start a YouTube Channel

Some of the big YouTubers make an absolute fortune from their YouTube videos. Forbes reported that top YouTuber Mr Beast made a whopping $54 million in 2021!

As with blogging, you won’t make quick money from a new YouTube channel, you will need to put a lot of time into it to begin with in order to grow your subscribers. But, this is another hobby that can be done in your spare time at first and gradually built up.

In order to make money from YouTube, you will need to join the YouTube Partner Programme. In order to be accepted you’ll need to meet a few criteria:

• Have 1,000 subscribers
• Your videos must have been watched for at least 4,000 hours in the last 12 months
• You will need to have a Google Adsense account

So how do YouTubers make their money?

• Ad revenue
• YouTube Premium subscribers
• Channel memberships
• Super chats

You will need to be confident being in front of the camera and also be prepared to deal with any troll accounts as these are becoming more and more common sadly.

Sell an Online Course

Since the Covid lockdowns, many people have turned to the internet to learn new skills. If you have a skill that people want to learn, then you could create an online course and sell that in order to make money.

I always think that if you’re looking for how to make £100 a day, or any amount of extra money, it’s always a good idea to work with the skills you already have.

You could create an online course in anything you’re good at, but here are a few ideas:

• Digital video editing
• Knitting
• Affiliate marketing
• Crafting
• Search Engine Optimisation
• Creating a profitable blog
• Graphic design
• Jewellery making
• Cooking
• Language skills

The list is endless. Once you’ve decided that this could be your way of how to make £100 a day, you’ll need to create your course and decide which platform you want to use to sell. Here are few you could use:

• Skillshare
• Thinkific
• Ruzuku
• LearnDash
• Podia
• Kajabi

Then, probably the hardest part in order for you to actually start to make money is for you to market your course. You need to make sure that people know about it and want to buy it.

Matched Betting

Matched Betting was one of the first side hustles I ever tried. It took me a long time to trust that it was a genuine way to make extra money, I was really concerned about it to begin with. But, I was soon making a really decent amount of money each month which made a huge difference to our household income.

I first started matched betting in 2015 and I’ll be the first to admit that since then it has become much harder to make a decent and consistent income from it. But it is still worth doing.

Back when I first started, I used Profit Accumulator who find all the offers and walk you through how to complete them. Since then, Profit Accumulator have rebranded and are now known as Outplayed, but they still offer the same service.

Matched betting, when done properly, isn’t gambling. But, if you have an addictive personality or a history of gambling that’s got out of hand, then it’s best to avoid this one. However, if you know you’ll only follow the instructions and not be tempted to start to gamble, then you can make real money pretty quickly with this.

Write an eBook

If you have a story to tell, a how-to guide, or you’ve always dreamed of writing a novel, then you could make money by writing and selling an eBook.

With an eBook, there’s no need to worry about finding a publisher or how much that will cost, you’ll be creating a digital product that you can write and sell yourself without too much difficulty.

I use Canva for this kind of thing, they have lots of different templates you can use to create your eBook and it just makes the whole process much easier than trying to do it on your own.

When it comes to selling an eBook, there are a few different options. You can sell eBooks on Amazon, eBay and Etsy. You can also create a dedicated sales page if you have a blog or a website.

Create an Online Store

You can create an online store to sell pretty much anything you like. If you’re crafty then you could sell your crafts online. Or, you could start reselling as a way to make money.

There are a few different ways you can create an online store.

Shopify

Many blogs and websites that sell online use a platform called Shopify to create their online store. Shopify allows you to create your own online shop on your own website giving you complete control.

Etsy

Etsy is a well-known and highly popular platform that many individuals and small businesses use to sell their products. The main benefit of using Etsy to sell online is that it gets your products seen by more potential customers. But you do have to pay fees and there is a lot of competition.

eBay

eBay used to be the place to sell online, but more and more people have moved away from it recently due to the high cost involved in listing and selling items on there. However, it is still worth looking at as you can create your own online store and probably get more eyes on your products than you would with your own, standalone website.

Become a Virtual Assistant

Virtual Assistants can be asked to do all kinds of tasks remotely. If you know your way around a computer, then this could be a great money spinner for you. Some Virtual Assistants will focus on offering specific services whilst others will offer a broader range. Here are a few tasks that Virtual Assistants do:

• Managing social media accounts
• Customer support
• Responding to emails
• Answering calls
• Typing
• Writing content
• Sourcing work
• Email marketing
• Managing a company website

Become a Freelance Writer

Freelance writing is something I’ve done here and there over the years when I’ve needed to make some extra money. Sometimes this has involved writing blog posts for other bloggers, and I’ve also worked on writing text for leaflets too.

The work can be very varied and it’s something you can do as much or as little of as you like. Once you’ve built up a history and a reputation, this could easily earn you a full-time wage and is definitely one way how to make £100 a day.

Offer Professional Services Online

There are lots of different professional services that you can do online from home depending on your skills and qualifications:

Become a Proofreader

I worked as a proofreader from home for over 6 years. I was employed for one company and worked set hours, but many proofreaders set up their own businesses and operate on a self-employed basis. For my job role, I had to proofread articles for a website and publish them once I was happy they made sense and were grammatically correct. Many proofreaders do this kind of work, but you could also offer a proofreading service to novel writers too.

This kind of work can be very varied and I really enjoyed it when I did it. But you do need to have a good understanding of the English language and grammar in order to be successful as a proofreader.

Freelance on Fiverr

Fiverr is a platform that connects individuals with services such as writing, proofreading, design and all kinds of other things. Here are just a few of the different things you can make money from on Fiverr:

Deliver Food

Food delivery services have become incredibly popular over the last few years and companies such as Deliveroo can offer a great way for people to either make some money around their existing commitments or to work as their full-time job.

Deliver Parcels

If you’ve got some spare time on your hands and you’re wondering how to make £100 a day, then delivering parcels could be a great way to do that. There are a number of companies you can work for delivering parcels.

Amazon Flex allow you to register with them if they are currenlty looking for drivers in your area. You can then collect and deliver parcels in your local area at a time that suits you, so you could do this around your existing job or childcare commitments. All you need is to be 18 or older and have a smart phone and a vehicle.

Deliver People

If you own your own car then you could make extra money working as an Uber driver. Again, you’ll make more money if you can work in a busy area, so inner cities are great for this kind of work, and you can pick and choose your own hours depending on your other commitments.

Sell Printables

Printables are big business these days. With so many people wanting things instantly, buying a printable is a great way to tap into that mindset. When you’re selling printables, you’re selling the digital copy of something you’ve created which the buyer can then go ahead and print for themselves at home.

• Party invitations
• CVs
• Yearly planners
• Wedding planners
• Printable colouring pages

I’ve used the User Testing website on and off for the last few years. It pays you to follow a set of instructions and navigate a specific website whilst giving your response. As you can see, they pay fairly well at around $10 per test so this is a great little extra to help you with how to make £100 a day.

Userlytics works in a similar way to User Testing and pays you to test out websites using your phone, tablet, laptop or desktop computer.

Take on some bar work

Taking on a second job such as bar work is a great way to earn extra cash. Bar work tends to be evenings and weekends so you could potentially fit this in around your main job as an extra money maker.

The other great thing about this kind of work is that it gives you a social life too. If you’re at home with the kids all day, then getting out in the evening and mixing with other adults can be really important for your mental wellbeing.

Rent stuff out

There are all kinds of things you can rent out to help you along the way on how to make £100 a day. It will just depend what you have available.

Rent a room in your home

If you have a spare bedroom, you could rent this out to a lodger in order to bring some regular extra money in.

Under the Rent a Room Scheme, the first £7,500 you earn from renting a room is completely tax-free.

Rent out your driveway

Renting out your drive works particularly well if you live near to a railway station or on a busy commuter route. I’ve even seen driveways available to rent near to primary schools too! When parking spaces are at a premium, people are prepared to pay for a regular space that’s convenient and means they don’t have to spend ages hunting for a parking space each day.

Rent your household items

Did you know that you could rent out pretty much anything you own? Think about the big bulky stuff that you own that not everyone has the space to store. You can rent these out through sites such as Fat Llama. Here are a few of the different items that tend to be popular:

• Carpet cleaners
• Lawnmowers
• Drones
• DJ Equipment
• Bicycles
• Sewing machines

Rent out your storage space

If you have some extra space such as a garage, loft or shed going spare, then you could make money renting it out. You can use sites such as Storemates and Djeepo to advertise your space and hopefully you’ll soon be earning a fairly passive income making money from space that you weren’t using.

Selling your unwanted items

This one isn’t going to be a neverending source of extra income, but it can help you if you’re trying to figure out how to make £100 a day in the short term.

Many of us have houses full of items we no longer need or things the kids have grown out of. Selling these is a great way to make some extra cash and it also helps to cut down on the amount of household items being sent to landfill.

I use Vinted to sell clothes, shoes and bags that we’ve either grown out of or no longer use and eBay and Facebook Marketplace for things like toys and electronics.

I love a good declutter a few times a year. It amazes me just how much stuff we accumulate and how quickly the kids grow out of things! It’s great to make a bit of money back on the things we no longer need.

Become a Mystery Shopper

When I lived in a busier town I used to love making extra cash by mystery shopping. Since we’ve moved to a smaller town, the opportunities aren’t really there, but this is a great idea for people living in areas with more shops, pubs and restaurants.

When you take on a mystery shopping assignment, you will be given a specific task by the business owners who will want you to report back with your findings. This could be to check the state of the toilets or report back whether you were offered dessert. They just want to know that their staff are doing what they’re being paid to do. You will usually be given a budget to buy an item or a meal and then paid a fee on top of that too.

There are a few companies that offer mystery shopping work but I’ve usually found most of my work through Market Force.

Online Tutoring

You can tutor people online in all kinds of different subjects and at all levels too. You are likely to need qualifications in order to do this.

Many homeschooling parents use online tutors in order to help their children to learn from home.

Adults are also big users of online tuition for all kinds of subjects. Learning a second language online is one of the most popular things that adults and college students look for, so if you’re fluent in another language, then this could be a great option. Or, you could teach English to Chinese students who are studying in this country, or students from any other country too.

Offer a cleaning or ironing service

With many people juggling busy work and home lives, lots are looking to pay somebody to do jobs such as ironing and cleaning for them. You can offer this service as an individual by advertising on your local Facebook groups or creating some leaflets and putting them up in your local area. Make sure you price yourself competitively, particularly in the early days whilst you establish a reputation.

Dog walking

Dog walking is a great way to make extra cash in your spare time, particularly if you’re a dog lover! You will need to have the relevant insurance before you get started though.

Dog walking services have become even more sought after following the Covid-19 pandemic when lots of families brought dogs into their homes. Now that they’ve mostly gone back to work, they need somebody to walk their dog!

Petsitting

As well as dog walking, pet owners also need people to take care of their animals when they go away on holiday or are spending long hours away from home.

You are likely to need insurance and a DBS check in order for people to be happy to allow you to take care of their pets.

Babysitting

Babysitting might not be regular work, but it can be a good way to bring in extra cash and supplement your income. It’s a good idea to start off by offering your service to family and friends who know and trust you. You can then start to build up a reputation which will hopefully lead to more regular customers.

Use cashback sites

Cashback sites aren’t new and hopefully you’ve been using them for a while now in order to get money back whenever you make a purchase online. I’ll be the first to admit that I can be a bit forgetful about doing this, but it can really give your finances a boost.

Cashback sites track your online purchases and reward you with a set amount of cash which you can then withdraw into your bank account. You do need to go through the cashback site in order to qualify, and not every retailer will feature, but it is always worth checking.

There are a few different cashback sites you can use but the main ones are TopCashBack and Quidco.

Surveys

If you’re trying to find ways how to make £100 a day, then you might have already dismissed survey sites, but they can actually be worth doing.

The highest paying surveys are definitely on Prolific, and the beauty of these is that you are always pre-screened so you’re never screened out after you’ve started taking a survey. Prolific studies are usually quite interesting too as they’re often created by University students or companies researching public opinion. If you only sign up to one survey site then make it Prolific.

YouGov is another one you can try along with PineCone and YourSayPays.

Online surveys are never going to make you rich, but they are a great way to earn a little extra without putting in too much effort. It’s the kind of thing you can do in front of the TV after a busy day.

Be clever with your money

If you’re smart with the money you already have, then you can make money from it.

If you’ve got savings, then make sure you’re earning as much interest as possible from them.

You could consider moving some of your money to Premium Bonds. I’ve won £25 a few times with mine which is always a nice boost, but you could win up to £1,000,000.

Many current accounts offer financial incentives, so you can make some pretty instant money just by switching your bank account.

How to make £100 a day – what to avoid

Sadly, whenever you’re looking to make extra money, there are going to be people out there hoping to scam you. It’s a sad fact of life but it’s definitely something to be aware of. Here are a few things to avoid if you’re wondering how to make £100 a day:

• Avoid MLM – this includes things like Avon, Juice Plus, Essens etc
• Never sign up to any “opportunity” that asks you to pay money upfront for things like training
• Avoid leaflet packing jobs as these are generally scams
• Anything that seems to be too good to be true probably is
• Don’t give out your National Insurance number, date of birth or bank details during the application process
• Be wary of job adverts full of spelling or grammatical errors
• Avoid roles where the interview is held via a messaging service rather than video call or a traditional face-to-face interview
