How to upgrade your car for less

While many of us may dream about having the latest car packed full of technology, sometimes it’s easier said than done. Even the biggest car fanatics will have to slash their car budget sometimes. Whether you’re saving for a house, getting married or having children – if you’re a car fanatic trying to save money then stay tuned.

With used car prices booming, we’ve put together some top tips on how to benefit from up-to-date automotive features without splashing out on the latest model so fellow petrol-heads can satisfy their car cravings.

Sell your existing car

First of all, you’re going to need to find the funds for purchasing your dream car. In order to do this, it’s likely you’ll want to sell your existing car. Take some time to figure out how much your car is worth and figure out the best place to list your car for sale. For example, if you’re looking to sell your classic vehicle, then you’ll probably want to use a specialist dealer to help you to achieve the best possible sale price.

Explore some DIY mods

If you already have a car but it lacks that little something extra, then a great way to personalize your car is through some DIY modifications. Significantly cheaper than buying a brand-new car, there are loads of ways you can personalize your car. From interior vinyl wraps, to replacing your pedals – it’s easier than you’d think to create the car of your dreams (or something much closer to it at least!).

If you’re going down this route, before you do the work, it’s best to check that any modifications are legal. After you’ve done the work, you’ll also need to register it with the DVLA

Fill your car with clever gadgets

If you’re a sucker for gadgets, then there’s no reason you can’t kit out your car with them too. On sites such as Amazon, there are a whole host of gadgets to choose from. Whether that’s a new stereo system, a funky phone holder or a heads-up speedometer – there’s sure to be something that tickles your fancy online.

Add some simple personal touches

Although this won’t turn a Vauxhall Corsa into a Lamborghini, adding some simple touches can make a big difference. If you want to spice up your vehicle, consider replacing things such as carpets mirrors and air fresheners.

Just making some small tweaks can make a big difference.

If you haven’t already, then why not give the lighting an upgrade? Nowadays there are loads of different coloured lights on the market to give your car a touch more ambience.

Lease a car

If you really can’t resist a factory-new car, then leasing can be a great option. That way, you’re able to benefit from the latest model of your favourite car and you can even try out different models while you’re at it.

Then, once you’re bored of it you can simply trade it in for a new model.

The bottom line is that if you’re a car fanatic, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get your hands on a car you love. From modifying and upgrading the one you already have, to considering affordable leasing options, the car of your dreams is closer than you’d think.
