Make Money with Blogger Outreach
If you’re a regular reader, then you’ll know that I’m all about making extra money. I take on lots of side hustles alongside my part-time job and over the last few months blogging has become my biggest source of income, recently even overtaking my actual job!
I’ve talked before about how bloggers make their money. The truth is that bloggers will often have a number of ways of monetising their blog in order to make it a really lucrative way to make extra cash.
Writing sponsored content is the way that I make most of my money. Bloggers are a really valuable source of information to their readers, and as such, they’re often sought after by businesses wanting to share their products or services with a wide readership. Whether you’re already an established blogger, or you’re just thinking about starting a blog to make money, blogger outreach is something that you ought to look into.
What is blogger outreach?
Businesses and bloggers will often connect with each other through an agency that provides blogger outreach services. Businesses seek bloggers to promote them, and bloggers seek businesses to work with. It’s a two-way system that benefits both parties.
The simple idea is that through blogger outreach (or blogger relations), a business or brand can get the word out about their products to potential customers.
It’s a fantastic way for brands to spread the word quickly about their products.
What’s in it for the brand?
New businesses will often look to promote their products or services through an established blogger because they know that bloggers have already built up a great relationship with their readers. That takes time that the brands themselves just don’t have. They’ll seek out bloggers whose readers fit their target audience and write about topics that work well with their niche.
For example, a toy brand will seek to work with a blogger whose own children fit their target age range. A product aimed at a toddler can be reviewed and photographed with the age-appropriate child testing it out. The blogger’s readers are likely to have children of a similar age and the brand can get the word out quickly and effectively to their target market.
This can work for pretty much every niche there is. A window blinds company might ask a blogger to write content about how to spruce up your living room and incorporate a link to their website.
How brands can successfully pitch to bloggers
It’s important that brands and businesses are up front from the start about what they’re looking for. These are a few tips that can help to build up a good working relationship with bloggers:
- Be clear about your target audience.
- Specify exactly what you’ll require from bloggers – content, social sharing etc.
- Know your budget and make sure it’s fair for the work required.
- Be up front about specific requirements – number of followers, blog DA etc.
Why are bloggers so valuable?

It takes a long time for bloggers to establish themselves and to build up a loyal readership, it’s not something that somebody can quickly and easily replicate. Over time, readers get to know and trust their favourite bloggers and they really value their opinion.
This really is like gold dust to brands who want to get their products out there as quickly as possible to their target market.
These days, bloggers are more commonly referred to as “influencers” – they have a genuine impact on their readers and people are more likely to buy products recommended by a blogger they trust than one they see advertised randomly online.
What’s in it for the blogger?
Although many bloggers initially start blogging as a creative outlet, or a way to share their thoughts with the world, many go on to accept paid blogging assignments. In fact, it’s not uncommon for bloggers to walk away from their 9-5 jobs and take blogging on as a full-time job.
There are many ways that bloggers make money. Perhaps one of the most lucrative is by creating sponsored content for businesses reaching out to share their products through the blogger’s platform. Bloggers can charge a really wide range of fees for this service and for the big bloggers it is really big business.
How can bloggers make a success of it?
In order for brands to want to work with a blogger, there are a few things bloggers should consider:
- Make sure you can meet any deadlines
- Clarify exactly what the brand wants – word count, social sharing etc.
- Be professional at all times
- Be honest with your readers – make sure your readers know if a post is collaborative or a product gifted for a review
Blogger outreach is a great tool for both brands and bloggers to make money. Brands get the exposure they need in order to make sales, and bloggers make their money through creating sponsored content.
