Today I’m talking about making some extra money with temporary jobs.
By temping I don’t necessarily mean full shifts, there are lots of quick and easy temping jobs around too. You just need to know where to look!
I use RedWigWam to find temporary work. They have lots of jobs and I can pick and choose the ones that suit me.
What kind of temp work can you do?
The answer to this really is, how long is a piece of string? There’s no end to the kind of jobs you could pick up.
I’ve been into a high-end electrical store and re-priced for a client. I’ve also taste-tested for brands and left reviews on supermarket websites. There are often stock check jobs to do too. With these you generally just need to locate a specific item and photograph the display, making a note of the various individual brand items.
In the run up to Christmas, there also tends to be longer-term, seasonal work available. You can apply for positions and book yourself onto a block of shifts.This is great if you just want to make some extra money for Christmas.
How will you know when there’s work available?
Within your profile settings, you can select how you want to be notified of new jobs within your area.
Then, when a job becomes available, you can find more details in the opportunities section, and allocate yourself to any that you’re able to do. It’s really simple.
How much will you get paid?
All the jobs are rated on an individual basis, so you’ll get paid differently by different clients.
As an example, I was paid £10 to record a short video about what I liked about a brand. On another occasion, I was paid £7 and reimbursed for the cost of the product for a taste test and review.
What about paying tax?
RedWigWam actually act as your employer, in that they deduct any taxes and issue you with a payslip. You will need to provide them with your National Insurance number and proof of address before you can work for them.
So, what’s stopping you?
Even if you don’t expect to be able to do many of the jobs, the product review ones are pretty straightforward and you can shop online and do thost in the comfort of your own home!
