Who’s eligible?
All members of staff at educational institutions are eligible for a Unidays staff account.
The National Education Union
Like many public sector workers, teachers often join a union. The National Education Union (NEU) is the UK’s biggest union for workers in the education sector.
As well as being available to support and advise teaching staff, they also have various discounts and offers available to their members.

Dell
The Dell Advantage Program offers member discounts to education staff. You can get 20% off desktops, laptops and computer accessories.
In order to get access to the discounts, you will need to get a voucher from the Dell website. You will need to use your school email address to register and you will then receive your discount voucher code back to the same email address. Use the code when you checkout to receive your discount. It’s nice and easy!
O2 Open
Teachers can get access to a discounted scheme from O2 called O2 Open. This will give you a discounted rate of up to 25% off Airtime plans.

Vodafone
Vodafone has the Vodafone Advantage scheme. They offer various discounts:

In order to apply and be eligible for the teachers discount, you’ll need to register with your work email address as well as supply your ID and a letter from your employer.

The International Teacher Identity Card
All teachers are eligible for an International Teacher Identity Card (ITIC). This is a plastic ID card that can be used internationally. You will also have a virtual card that you can access via an app. It gives you a number of travel benefits:
- Up to 40% off flights
- Up to 5% off travel insurance
- Travel benefits on accommodation, car hire, entertainment and food
The ITIC costs £12 and is valid for one year.
Am I eligible for an International Teacher Identity Card?
In order to be eligible, you must work as a teaching professional for a minimum of 18 hours per week. You must also work for a recognised educational establishment for a minimum of one year.
How to apply for an International Teacher Identity Card
Head over to the ITIC website to apply for your card. You will need:
- A letter on official school/establishment paper to confirm that you are an employee working for at least 18 hours per week for one year.
- Passport
- Birth certificate
- Official ID such as driving licence

Do other educational staff members qualify for a teacher discount scheme?
You will need to check the details of the discount you’re looking to take advantage of, but many are available to all academic staff and as well as classroom teachers. Many of the discounts I’v shared are also available to staff of various government agencies too.
Can teachers get the Blue Light card?
Teachers can’t get discounts with a Blue Light card. These cards are only available to people who work in the emergency services, so teachers and educational staff don’t qualify unfortunately.
Can teachers and education staff get discounts at Argos?
Teacher and education staff can get exclusive access to deals at Argos through the Discounts for Teachers website. Argos don’t currently offer any discounts directly through themselves.
Can teachers get discounts on Amazon Prime?
Amazon don’t offer discounts directly themselves, however if you sign up to the Teacher Discounts website, you can get discounts that way.

Do Morrisons still do teacher discounts?
Morrisons no longer offer their 10% discount to teachers, this ended in February 2021. However, they do have their Teachers Club. Members can get access to regular money-off coupons and special treats. You can join by logging into your Morrisons account and clicking on “clubs” and then selecting “teachers club”.
How do I prove that I work in education?
Each company will have their own requirements about who they allow to benefit from their discounts and their own set of criteria you’ll need to meet in order to be eligible for teacher discounts UK. Often, you’ll need to sign up using your academic email address rather than your personal email address. You are also likely to need a letter from your employer on headed paper to show that you are in an eligible profession.
